Rhapsody
So does anyone use it?
Have you heard anything about it? Have you had any problems? I've checked it out and gone through their lists of artists and it looks pretty extensive, they even have quite a few "obscure" bands that I never would have thought they'd have. I'm thinking of giving it a try and was wondering what other people's experiences with it have been. Thanks, Jadey |

Sorry, Here's the link:
http://www.listen.com But I kinda assumed anyone that didn't know what I was talking about, probably wasn't using it. |

hehe Good thought.
Checking it out, it looks OK. It looks like it's something that would compete w/ Apple's iTunes.. is that correct? My two major (inter-related) complaints would be: #1: It's Windows-only.. which mean it has some sort of DRM attached to it.. #2: It's in association with Real, so I imagine they make you use RealPlayer to play/verify your use of the mp3s you download. Sounds cool though. |

I use it, and I love it. I'm on cable modem, and have never had any connection problems or traffic issues that caused a skip in the song. They have some stuff I wouldn't think would be there.
My only complaint is that they don't have some of my favorite bands: Beatles, Phish, Jethro Tull and about half of Sinatra's stuff.

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm still debating giving it a try though. I asked around at work and one of my Systems guys has been using it for a couple of months and loves it. He hasn't yet dl'd any song either so I'm not sure how that works. But it's legal.

I love it because it has a lot of independant labels on it, I just used the free trial given to me by Comcast and I am seriously thinking about signing up for it. I would say its better than the other services out there right now.

Imagine having a database of 500,000 tracks that you could access anytime you want for $10 a month- that is Rhapsody. I use it every day and I love it. If I want to listen to a song that isn't offered in their catalog then I just create a custom radio station with the artist I want to hear and wait for it to play. I've seen some people comment that the absence of Beattles tracks is a problem- that one is out of Listen's control. If the label won't license the content, then they can't offer it.
BTW: If used iTunes $10 a month would get me ~10 songs a month. With Rhapsody $10 a month gives me access to half a million. *One final note: I would be dishonest if I didn't tell you that I work for RealNetworks- I'm not in the marketing dept., though, so I'm speaking for myself. |
