new G3 tour - G3 '03
I guess this applies more to the guitar players out there just because this is a guitar concert for the most part. If you haven't already heard this year the tour consists of the two standards, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, but this time the third artist is Yngwie Malmsteen. I was quite shocked when I heard that Yngwie was the third person for the tour because he's just so different from Vai and Satriani sound wise. I'm a huge fan of Vai and Satch and really like most of the Yngwie stuff I've heard but I'm not sure if he'll fit in with the other two. I've always heard that he was a cocky and arrogant person but he just so happens to be a great player. I know a lot of people can't stand his stuff and I'm just hoping that if he brings a singer that he doesn't suck too much. I've never seen Yngwie in concert either so I'm certainly looking forward to it even though I don't see him giving a better performance than Vai, now he's a real showman. So I'm just curious as to what some of you others think of the lineup for this year's tour. Personally I can't wait to see it.

I too was shocked when I heard the third G. I'll go if it comes our way, but the last one did'nt come to Dallas, only Austin.
Also, I freaked when the 3rd G was KWS, but loved the show, it was quite a combo. And seeing them touring away from g-3, is always better cuz they don't just play "the hits or standard", you know, Satch Boogie, AWYAWM, and FTLOG for Stevie. Oh and you can tell by my screen name who I like the best |

I'm pumped about this show. I enjoyed seeing John Petrucci last time around, and I wish I could have seen it when Eric Johnson toured with them
Yngwie Malmsteen is an amazing guitarist, and this should give him a lot of exposure to a market that may be unfamiliar with his work. |
