Guess what? Kurt Cobain is dead. Jimi Hendrix is dead. Jim Morrison is dead. And Nirvana, Hendrix, and The Doors ALL still kick ass. Also, Bonham died 23 years ago, so 10 years ago it wasn't any different. Plant's new music is better than his '80s music IMO anyway. You have to admit both bands have stood the test of time VERY well. The stones are still around, and the Yardbirds turned into Zep who turned into the Honey Drippers, and Page and Plant are still around, almost as long as the Stones anyway. Besides, watch "The Song Remains The Same". When you see Page playing his guitar with a bow in Dazed and Confused and the '73 MSG concert's version of the solo for Stairway to Heaven, you'll realize that he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Ditto for John Bonham in the Moby Dick drum solo. If he didn't drink himself to death, I bet they'd still be around as Led Zeppelin. Maybe then I could've seen them in concert. :( |

Songs from III on How the West was Won: Immigrant Song Since I've been Loving You That's the Way Bron-Yr-Stomp Songs from IV on How the West was Won: Black Dog Stairway to Heaven Going to California Rock and Roll ...not trying to belittle or show you up, but your post is very misleading. |
Apples and oranges. They both kick ass for completely different reasons. I have a fairly complete collection by both bands and really, I wouldn't ever even _try_ to pick a favorite; they're too different from one another.
I do have one bone to pick, though... Zeppelin... original? I love 'em, man, and nobody put all the parts togetehr quite that way before or since, but at the heart of things, they were just another heavy rock band. Definitely one of the best practicioners, sure, but... original? I think all the lawsuits from people they blatantly ripped off are strong evidence to the contrary and Page didn't get the "Robber Baron of Rock 'N Roll" nickname for nothing... And all the Stones ever wanted was to ape American R&B and country acts... they just found a groove where they could do that and sound like nobody but themselves in the process. |
led zep all the way..... both are great tho
|
Okay so guys that picked Zep, what's your favorite album by them? I gotta say I or IV. :)
|
Gotta say Zeppelin... I still listen to them to this day, can't say the same about the stones.
|
Zeppelin, the greatest band ever. However, the Stones are great too.
Best album: Physical Grafitti |

ZEP- a no-brainer
Best album- Depends how you like your Zep-If raw and rockin, you gotta go with one of the first two. I like a little more soulful and bluesy, so I like Houses of the Holy: The song remains... The Rain song Over the hills... The crunge Dancing days d'yer maker no quarter the ocean Also Zep for the best road partying band. Check out: http://www.arf.ru/Notes/Fillmore/app.html |
