Led Zeppelin or Rolling Stones
I've been having this on-going argument with my girlfriend over who the better band was. I say Led Zeppelin. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE The Rolling Stones, I just think Zeppelin was better.
What do y'all think? |

Don't forget the Stones had a good influence on Led Zeppelin too. They are both incredible bands. Zeppelin's influence is more apparent in modern music, since Blues/Rock isn't all that prevalent compared to Hard Rock. Don't get me wrong they were both Blues/Rock but Zeppelin was defenitely pushing into Heavy Metal. The Stones kept more to their blues/rock roots and continue to do so.
Top 3 English bands to me: Led Zeppelin Rolling Stones The Animals In that order.

Led Zeppelin.
The Stones were a much better band (musically) before they hit it big and were still playing blues. They spent the remainder of their time in the 60's playing catch-up to The Beatles. Zeppelin was a much more original band.

Zeppelin. Two reasons:
1. The Stones were a singles band (admit it!). Every Zeppelin album is great all the way through. 2. Zeppelin quit when it was time for them to quit. The Stones have continued releasing yearly compilations and albums that rely on fan nostalgia.

I think Led Zeppelin are the much better band. I don't think there is any comparison.
I'm a little biased also because I hate the Stones. Just can;t stand them. But I think LZ are one of the best rock bands of all time. |

The second disc is great, but the whole lacks the coherence of The Song Remains the Same. If you're really a Zep fan, you'll like it, but if not, stick with Song. |

How is this even a contest?????
The Stones were a mediocre band with crappy writing, a singer who couldn't sing and a drunk guitart that has been overhyped for two-note riffs. Don't even get me started on Charlie Watts' "drumming" ability.

Led Zeppelin
I don't really even think they are comparable, really. They are like two totally different types of music. Led Zeppelin is really hard, metal-ish blues-rock and the Stones are more of a hard-pop-rock with a blues twist. Led Zeppelin is probably the best band ever, in my opinion. If you are going by the musicians, that is. Jimmy Page is one of the top 3 guitarists of all time, John Bonham is like the best drummer EVER, Robert Plant is amazing on vocals, and John Paul Jones is a very good bass player and keyboardist. I don't think you can find a better group of musicians, except for maybe Queen (Freddie Mercury is quite possibly the best singer ever, John Deacon has to be one of the best bassists, Brian May is in the top 5 guitarists of all time, and Roger Taylor is a more than capable drummer).

I agree, that they are two completely different animals, but I think that Zeppelin's music has stood the test of time better.
Just look at the sales of HTWWW and Zeppelin DVD. I think, that if Plant, Page and Jonesy decided to go on tour, it would break every concert record around. They don't, because they have respect for their dead band member. They would never be the same without him. The Stones, on the other hand, keep milking the same cow that died after Exile on Main Street. That is just my humble opinion, though. I love both bands. I have both Exile and LZ III in my car on constant repeat! Quote:

Zep.....
Not really fair argument though...different forms of music....like saying who's better, Robert Johnson or Muddy Waters....
