Self Esteem, by The Offspring, for the dozens of posts we get detailing relationship problems related to it.

Cynthetiq 04-12-2008 08:05 PM

nice ones mix and Martian...

Chico Buarque - O Malandro (Die Moritat von MacKie Messer)

Mack The Knife for all you others... thanks ring!

mixedmedia 04-12-2008 08:34 PM

Teach Me, Tiger

My boyfriend sent this song to me during the early days of our 'courtship' before I ever met him face to face...I got such a kick out of it. He could've swept me off my feet with just this song...if he hadn't already. :)

Cyn, I like that one....I love samba!

Manic_Skafe 04-12-2008 08:56 PM

Rarely ever do I play along in these things but I couldn't resist.

As they're just another band from Brooklyn I was surprised to find there were actually a few songs by Zs on there. Magical band - I'm not sure if it'll come across in the recording but I've seen them more times than I can count and was blown away each time....

Hope you guys enjoy.

Edit: Very nice Shauk, I liked your track most of all.

Martian 04-12-2008 09:22 PM

Add Fireworks by the Tragically Hip. No real reason, except that it's a fun tune.

Baraka_Guru 04-12-2008 09:31 PM

Added "Cannonball" by The Breeders. I've always loved this song.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot the comment on the song.

spectre 04-13-2008 12:41 AM

snowy 04-13-2008 07:05 AM

Though it's likely Martian will not care for it, I added Goldfrapp's "Fly Me Away". It's such a catchy song I've had it stuck in my head for weeks.

Baraka_Guru 04-13-2008 07:09 AM

Added "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" by the Traveling Wilburys.

I like the story. :)

I like to listen to angry music when I have to do things I don't like to do--thus, Dethklok's "Thunderhorse" makes good bathroom-cleaning music.

Shauk 04-13-2008 12:05 PM

I play that on Expert on guitar hero, I'm a nerd. i love it though, excellent song.

mixedmedia 04-13-2008 02:14 PM

mixedmedia 04-14-2008 08:35 PM

It was the last song they played the last time we went skating.

gotta go...

oh yeah..Lennon's 'Working Class Hero'....

jewels 04-15-2008 04:45 PM

A little Billie Holiday added to the list. Etta James always makes me think of her.

Sometimes I wish I felt like Billie Holiday sounds when she sings. Pure heaven no matter what the song.

Dan Baird - I Love You Period

Do you love me question mark.... please please exclamation point....

snowy 04-15-2008 05:29 PM

But seriously, I hope I never get satisfied with just "enough."

Martian 04-16-2008 02:58 AM

This is turning into quite the epic playlist.

mixedmedia 04-16-2008 04:43 AM

Well, yes, he introduced me to their music one night while we were in chat...I'd never heard of them before. He posted a link to the video for 'Rebellion (Lies)'. And it is thusly so that I started to collect their music. :)

jewels 04-16-2008 09:46 AM

Posted an old Dixie Cup song. We call this girl that comes around Iko and it reminded me.

roachboy 04-16-2008 01:10 PM

hooray for me!

almost as if to dissipate that sort of thing, and because i am feeling particularly add at the moment, i added a track by the fabulously curious satanicpornocultshop.

You're with Stupid Now by Aimee Mann

Martian 04-17-2008 01:36 PM

I forgot to post earlier. Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners, by the Foo Fighters.

There's a fun story behind this track. During the Beaconsfield mine collapse a couple of years ago, the two trapped miners asked for an ipod with Foo Fighters songs on it. Dave sent down a message with the ipod that he'd dedicate a track on the next album to them and that when they got out they could have free tickets to a show. Ballad is the song that he wrote for them.

Esoteric 04-17-2008 01:41 PM

Hendrix baby.

ring 04-17-2008 01:44 PM

Janis next to Hendrix, feels correct.

Our kitty had to go to the vet... as I left for the office, I was a bit worried that he wasn't going to come back...

Jetée 04-17-2008 06:39 PM

I'll add a song(and then 67 more) when I get one to load fully, sos'n I can test the track's audio(some links are duds; also, my connection in this desert is trifling).

What I'd like for some to scrounge up is the originator of the that thread in "Found on the Net" that introduced the esteemed folk here at TFP to the excellent engine of search service that is seeqpod.

Plunder'd: Playable Music Search

As a favor, I "dug" up the treasure trove.

Baraka_Guru 04-17-2008 07:52 PM

Art Zoyd -- "Simulacres"

I'm just getting into this stuff, so I thought I'd share what's taking up my musical mind space right now.

paddyjoe 04-18-2008 03:16 AM

work is leaving no room to breathe lately, so I thought this old Rush tune would help....

sweet playlist so far!

roachboy 04-18-2008 12:07 PM

fela ransome kuti and his fantasitc big band.
in the fine form, fela smokes the place with this track.

this is a live, recorded in the early 1970s (i don't remember where).
before he became anikulapo.
either way, you can never have enough fela in your life.
one of the great bands in the universe, in my humble opinion.

let us start what we have come into the room to do.

we can begin by turning everything up.

Jetée 04-18-2008 12:11 PM

And I moved on to another:

Beck - Lord Only Knows

What is most difficult about selecting a song from an album is that most of those I own are so well-integrated, that it becomes a right giddy decision of choosing what feels right. Hopefully you agree.

Danny Federici, for 40 years the E Street Band's organist and keyboard player, died this afternoon, April 17, 2008 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a three year battle with melanoma.

Bruce Springsteen's concerts scheduled for Friday in Ft. Lauderdale and Saturday in Orlando performance are being postponed. Replacement dates will be announced shortly.

Gaucho by Steely Dan

One of my favorite Steely Dan songs...the lyrics crack me up every time I listen...

One more expensive kiss-off
