joseph spence: coming in on a wing and a prayer
from the complete folkways recordings 1958 i stumbled across this in the chicago public library--i had heard of spence but never heard him--a great guitarist, in high contrapunctual fingerpicking mode. this is worth the effort to track down. |

Main theme from Batman, by Danny Elfman. Batman Begins composer James Newton Howard could learn a lot from this. Two note bastard.

the past couple of days, I've been listening to a song I downloaded off Limewire. It's called Heroin and it's recorded by Iggy Pop. It's absolutely fantastic, but the problem is that I can't find any mention anywhere on the net that Iggy ever recorded it. Lou Reed wrote a song called Heroin and this song has some of the same lyrics, but they are out of order and there are some of the lyrics of Horses by Patti Smith mixed in with it. So, I'm figuring that it's either a bootleg recording or someone has edited the mp3 tags and it's a different song or a different artist. Can anyone help?
|
System of a Down has a song called "She's Like Heroin". It's probably not the same as the one you're listening to though...

At the end of the movie "Miami Vice" when the Asian woman is on the boat heading for Cuba, there is a heavy instrumental piece. I was watching the movie yesterday and really liked the piece, so I did some investigating and found it. It's called 'Auto Rock' by Mogwai, and it's great.
