He's done good things for Missy Elliot, I liked Timabland and Magoo....he's like Dr. Dre, where if you make your name with him as your producer, you're likely to fail if you leave him (like Snoop's music SUCKED when he left Dre).
Don't know what he saw in Aalyiah though (besides a nice piece of ass)

Exactly my point re: Aaliyah. She had an ok voice and was sexy as hell, but what I really liked were the beats laid down by Tim. Lil kim's "jump off" is another example of him taking a not-so-good artist and making a great song.
Face it, Bubba Sparxx would be even crapper if it wasn't for them catchy tunes.

i think Aaliyah was actually just really getting into her prime - i thought her last work was very good.
Back on topic, Timbaland is the mf'n man. i believe that he really raised the bar in regards to producing interesting and good beats - not only in hip-hop - but in the underground breaks and drum and bass arena too. not only that, he is pretty f'n consistent with making tracks that are absolutely slamming. my word. c_b

I like Tim's beats.. he took a lot of cues from Jump up jumgle and DnB and used breaks to create an innovative stateside sound. It's nice to see someone looking elsewhere for ideas and running with it for so long. It paved the way producers like The Neptunes, Rockwilda, even Eric Sermon to try new things in the fickle and often stagnant rap market.
