i think Aaliyah was actually just really getting into her prime - i thought her last work was very good.
Back on topic, Timbaland is the mf'n man. i believe that he really raised the bar in regards to producing interesting and good beats - not only in hip-hop - but in the underground breaks and drum and bass arena too. not only that, he is pretty f'n consistent with making tracks that are absolutely slamming.
