Snowmobile rebuild

Hi guys, I realize i could be doing this in an all in one shot... but i thought it would be more fun to be giving updates as i go along over the next couple of weeks...

Lemme explain what i mean,

I am building a snowmobile... i have nothing more than a chassis with a track, i will be building a custom motor, doing custom graphics on it, and completly restoring this pile of crap. just to see how fast i can make a scrapped sled go... i am aiming for 114MPH (without NOS), it is a 1998 POLARIS XLT 600 i just happened to come across, so we will see what i can do... your first picture will be submitted tonight, my buddy and I are going togo work on it right now,

p.s. lemme know if you just want me to keep EDITING this post window so all the pics are in the same spot, or if i should just keep making new ones!

YAY!

Awesome, snowmobiles can be pretty cheap to fix, if you can find the little bits and pieces and take your time, polaris engines are spendy to fix, my roomate might have a set of triple pipes for sale if your interested.

I love these kind of threads. I may not have anything constructive to add but I'll be following with interest.

Jargon it up all you want but it's all about the pictures for me.

well.. i have a DG racin can for it,

and I was told by some well known performance guys that a DG can with the stock Y-Pipe and single expansion tube puts out more horsepower than triple pipes because it heats up alot faster, but tell me what he wants for them and Ill look into it further.

more pictures soon, but to hold you over, I BOUGHT A NEW TRAILER!

this is for my sleds and a rolling workshop...

here it is at night all lit up...

And here it is during the day... need to clean it up a bit but overall not bad...

and heres the inside...

ok well here is just a quick update, My motor is built but i didnt take the pic of it yet, i will do that tonight, but as far as the rest of the sled goes,

The handle bars that come with the sled are a big pile of crap, and of course this little puppy is going to be sweet so i cant have crappy bars on here...

so i looked around at all the options i had with bars, and i didnt really like anything made for slelds, and i didnt like standard dirtbike 7/8 bars, then i saw these Fatty's which means they have a protaper which means the bars are 1 1/8 of an inch in the center and 7/8 at the ends so you can fit all your stuff on there, UNFORTUNATLY this meant that i cannot use my stock clamps, so i COULD buy some for 150$ plus the riser plus the swivel kit and so on and so on, LUCKILY my buddy works at a machine shop and i drew up a design and we sat there and made it last night.

and here it is all done, it just needs to be polished to a mirror now!

and here are the bars going into it

i will show you more pics in the next few days

Here are pictures of the sled so that you cant see it all done...

And here is a picture of the sled we did this to last year, this was a cat that we bought and found out it had a piston recall on it, so when we got the new ones, we decided to gut the motor and completly overhaul the sled. we did so many things to the motor of this sled. and now its a 129 mph sled :P

but this 800 was easy, i wanted to fix an old 600 and make it do undooable numbers, hence the reason for this polaris project
