Go faster!

How fast have you gone...not related to the other thread here.

Just curious as to how fast you've gone...not as in OVER the limit, but the maximum overall speed you've obtained. For me, it's 211mph. I've been very fast in a few cars, and it's fun. Went 172mph in a Corvette, 135 or so in a Viper. The 211mph was in a purpose built pickup truck. It went like a bat, too. It made 997HP at the rear wheels, so figure about 1150 or so at the crank...maybe a little more. My next goal is 250mph or better, but finding a street legal vehicle that I can do that with is gonna be pretty tough! I'd love 300mph, but short of getting a Top Fuel ride, that probably won't happen.

That is sweet! After I get my car modified, I'll have to go down there, and try it out! What did it take to drive the two laps around the track? I like AMS, as it's a fast little track. I love racing and speed, so that would be right up my alley.

Probably around a hundred, in my old pickup.

I'm not too much of a speed demon.

I've ridden in a Lazer doing 130+, but never driven that fast.

Entirely too damn fast in an '86 F-350. It was off the end of the speedo, I do know that. I was in a hurry, and everyone for 2 miles knew it.

But, there aren't many things cooler than hearing a 460 vent it's battle cry.

But I beat him! Someone turned into his lane and he had to slow way the fuck down. It was fun.

120ish in a 99 Grand Am GT. Would have kept going, but I ran out of road. I've done this twice now, the first time I had Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and it felt really shaky at speed. Second time was on Z rated Yokohama AVS ES100's, and she was solid as a rock.

Back when they reconfigured the track several years ago (right before the fall race) they had an open house and if you bought 25 bucks worth of stuff in the gift shop you got two laps around the track with one other vehicle and the pace car.

I was one of the first two vehicles out (the other was a dodge p/u) After signing the release forms and explaining that the speed limit was 60 mph and that we had to keep up with the pace car but we couldnt pass it, they let me and the other guy out. It was funny I had spent weeks trying to decide what music I was going to listen to while doing it and I finally decided on AC/DC's Highway to Hell. Well we came off pit road (which at AMS comes out in turn one) and by the time I had come out of turn two the pace car and the truck were going into turn 3 and I looked down (very briefly mind you I was scared shitless hehehe) and saw I was already doing 90 and all my mind told me was that I was supposed to be keeping up with the pace car so I was accelerating when I went into turn 3 and then I decided I didnt really wanna die so I slowed it down some (yeah yeah, make fun of me, I'm a wussy chick ) needless to say they were both finished with both laps before I was and I had the track to myself, which was totally cool!!!! It took all I had not to go back and spend more money in the gift shop, but I didnt want to press my luck, between the banking and the walls at AMS it terrified me, but in a good way

Side note...while said tape (before I had a cd player in the car) was playing, I didnt hear one note of it

245 (ish) in an ungoverned StockCar. An uncle of mine raced on the semi-pro circuit, and he let me try out his car. Of course, I made him take "The Plate" off. Unrestricted...that thing flew around the track.

Would never want to do that on the open road, though. Top speed I hit on the street was about 140 in my roadster.
