do you like the 350z?
while I'm sure this is a great car to drive, I HATE the profile of the new Z:
the roofline is hideous. looks like a fuckin' zit. want more proof of how bad the profile is? do a google image search for "350z" and notice how many pages you have to look through before you find a straight side-on profile shot. every pic you see is a quartering away or toward shot. hell, even Z fanatics hate that roofline. UUUUUUUGLY

I think its an awesome machine and i would love to drive one. That being said, i hate the rear half of the car. The front half is ...ehhh....but the back half is pretty hideous. That being said, it wouldn't let the looks of it keep me from buying one. I imagine it wouldn't take too long before i got used to how it looked and didn't mind staring at it in my driveway everyday....maybe even i would learn to really like the looks of it.

most shots are on the 3/4 because it shows the most amount of car. look for other cars and you will rarely see profiles.
IMHO I don't like the z as much as the G35...

I love the 350 Z considering how awesome it looks from a front view but I must agree that the roofline is horrible. Maybe it will feel better once you get to the actual car. But if they don't revamp the style before I get one I'll settle for the Z roadster. Considering what that car can do, the style is a small price to pay.
Beautiful Lexus by the way. I can only hope the side and front views match its sleekness from the back. Another car that has an ugly roofline is the Merecedes convertible.

Mirrors dont look to be too big of an issue to me, but visibilty does look kinda bad, even for a sports car. BTW, sion, do you live in san diego or is that just happen to be where the picture you Googled is from?

I like the old 300ZX, myself.
A family friend had one, she bought it brand new back in '86 because she wanted a sports car. Then she got rid of it not too much later because "it rode like a truck". I guess she was expecting Nissan's flagship sports car to ride like a Lincoln, who knows.. |

i think the 350z looks pretty good, but it sure does take a lot of tire to fill up those huge wheel wells. I didn't really like the inside of the Z when i sat in it, it's really depressing black and felt claustrophobic, granted it's a sports car.. Trunk space is zero and there is no rearward visibility really. But for the money, it's a really good car and i'd get one. Although i also I think the G35 coupe is a much cooler looking car, especially with those cool rims and brembos. plus it has back seats for all the extra chicks you'll be picking up.

I picked up a new 350z track a couple of months ago. I owned a WRX, 3000GT VR-4, 1st gen Eclipse GSX, and finally a 1984 300zx in previous lives. I absolutely love the new car; the power, performance, and price. It's funny that people say it needs more power, but looking back on the history of the Z you'll find decent power, low price and good looks. The 300zx all but killed the Z series with it power and >$45K price tag. The 350z is a step back and forward at the same time, a move that Nissan will be able to cash in on. A modest price (26K-34K), “looks”, and a well matched engine attribute to the high sales figures Nissan is seeing. Sure the looks are controversial. Some like it some don’t. Sit in one for a moment, take it for 10,000ft twisting hill climb or whatever torture test of your choice, and then judge it.
My personal takes on the looks. At first (pre-purchase) I was reserved about it. There were some angles and things that looked a little odd. However seeing it in person and subsequently parked in my garage I absolutely love it. I know many like the look of the car. I cannot count how many times I’ve seen people walking around the car checking out every detail. Always have positive comments when I talk to them, even if I play like it’s not my car, just another admirer like them. I’ve even seen people taking pictures with my car. The funniest was a family 5, who were obvious tourists (I live in Hawaii). My favorite, of course, was coming out of the local Wal-Mart to find this absolutely gorgeous woman perched up next to my car. Let’s just say this car is for those who like attention, both on the road and in the parking lot. All of this combined with the driving machine that it is, turned out to be an awesome package; one that I have been very happy about. Anyway, this is just one owner’s take on the subject. Additionally, I’m probably the stereotypical type of owner, in that I’m young, single, and male. So…take it how you will. |

Well I'm old, married, and male and it looks good to me. My only complaint is some of the trim is gaudy. Tone down the aluminum door pulls and some of the other trim and it'd look better.
I have no trouble believing it's a total blast to drive. |
