Nice. Looks like it was a fun day. Only been to a real track to race and mess around once....that was awesome. Where is that? Looks like the sign says Minnesota Highway Safety Center? Did you go with a club, or an SCCA event or just get a group of guys and rent out teh track?
Anyway, nice firebird. What kind of times were you running compared to some of the other cars there? Man....that mazda gives me unnatural urges Heh, the z06 is pretty sweet too.

This was a hot laps day for VSCR (http://www.vscr.org). They let anyone on the track though. Its more or less a fun day for all of us.. Last day of the season to get out and have fun. I didn't even run slicks, just street tires. I didn't setup my timing equipment so I'm not sure who was running where but I have run with Brian (Z06), Adam (Benz) and Danavine (RX-7) a bunch. We all run darn near the same times at MHSC (minnesota hwy safety center). If we go up to BIR then the benz and the RX7 start to fall off. The Z06 has more up top (150+) than my car does so yeah... so he pulls a bit into turn 1.
This was the first time though I could get some one ou to the track to take pictures. I didn't really care where they were, just some action picutres; I have paddock pictures from the last 3 years, don't need any more of those. The open wheel car runs in VSCR as a Formula Ford (FF) and would qualify for SCCA vintage. It is a hand resored FF from 1971(?). Awesome looking car and he was the fastest one out there that day. MHSC is a smaller track and really favors cars that turn - unlike my big american pig As far as I know he doesn't autocross the car. If your going to AutoX it there are acutally open wheel classifications (in the LOL region anyways). I would call your local region up and ask them how they do it.. .Seems like very division is differnt. Post some pictures of the beast, vintage rocks!

Thanks for the info Spyder_Venom.
Here is the car im interested in running in the autocross: Its: 600cc Quad carbs Full independent front and rear suspension Inboard shocks Zexel Torsen LSD with custom driveshafts, housing and sprocket drive. 610 pounds without driver. 0-60 in 4 1.05 g's in the skidpad. Amazing to drive, and my second one should be completed in 2 or so months. These cars are built as part of a compettion for SAE. Lots of colleges do it, im surprised no one from other schools have posted anything about it. Id love to get it out on a track against some "real" cars. |

That looks like it would be awesome for auotX... Shorter vehical and dosen't seem to be too wide. Is it a 2 stoke 600CC or 4stroke? I know that you can run a F500 car in the Solo II events, they have thier own class actually.
Best of luck with everything, and I think you should get that car out to the bigger tracks as well

yeah its a four stroke.
We mainly use honda engines for relaibility and since they are so easy to work with. Our sanctioning body, FSAE, limits us to 610cc so the hondas work out well. We have done some serious work on some of the engines, like custom fuel injection with a Haltech ecu and a custom turbocharger setup using an aerodyne turbo. Come to think of it im kinda threadjacking here, i will make a most later on tonight about my program here. |

I am glad to see a Neon out there with the big 8's. So where is this track? It would be fun to come and run up there.
