I've been bit by the autocross bug.

My pictures sucked because I had a crappy camera:

AutoX oddity #1: A pair of Morgan roadsters

AutoX oddity #2: Those same Morgans hauling ass

Even this big boy got into the act

Cop brakes, cop engine, cop suspension...

More competitors

And a Z06 that was insanely fast

The reason you don't bring all-season tires to an autocross event

A frustrated auxocrosser who eventually resorted to drifting

I'll be back in a month with better tires and better times. Fastest time was 46 seconds, my fastest was 53.

Not bad, what was your pax? I miss autox'ing the MR2...i should just suck it up, buy some stickies and race wheels and roll the Fit in H-stock

That's a cool automotive thing to do...that I haven't done yet but would like to. Nice pics, too. Being somewhat of an antique myself, I've always loved Morgans.

I'm not sure what kind of better tires you have in mind, but don't they bump you into a higher class if you run R compounds, or even low wear rating tires?

Is that Giants Stadium? I wonder if my buddy was there...he goes to many ax's there. He drives a blue FD with LS power and would usually be one of the quickest.

It was NASA, not an SCCA event, so they didn't use pax. From what I'm reading about it, I'm glad they don't, it would feel too much like bracket racing.

I was in the G class, and ranked 7th out of 8 cars with a fastest of 53.1 seconds. Fastest in that class ran 46.7, fastest overall went 42.1.

They assign a points system to each modification you do, tally up the points and depending on how many points you have determines if you get bumped up a class. You don't get bumped if the tires are DOT approved, but if they're non-DOT tires, you get sent to the Race Class---which is not where you want to be as a first-timer.

This was Giants Stadium, the only FD I saw was a red one that was on rotary power. They did have a few turbo'd Miatas that were quick around the course too.

I loved autocrossing. It made me feel like more than just some guy with a quick car. It made me feel like I actually knew how to drive it.
