It was NASA, not an SCCA event, so they didn't use pax. From what I'm reading about it, I'm glad they don't, it would feel too much like bracket racing.
I was in the G class, and ranked 7th out of 8 cars with a fastest of 53.1 seconds. Fastest in that class ran 46.7, fastest overall went 42.1.

I'm not sure what kind of better tires you have in mind, but don't they bump you into a higher class if you run R compounds, or even low wear rating tires?
Is that Giants Stadium? I wonder if my buddy was there...he goes to many ax's there. He drives a blue FD with LS power and would usually be one of the quickest.

They assign a
points system to each modification you do, tally up the points and depending on how many points you have determines if you get bumped up a class. You don't get bumped if the tires are DOT approved, but if they're non-DOT tires, you get sent to the Race Class---which is not where you want to be as a first-timer.
This was Giants Stadium, the only FD I saw was a red one that was on rotary power. They did have a few turbo'd Miatas that were quick around the course too.
