Your first car?
I'm curious to see what everybodys' first car was. I'll start. My first car was a 1967 Camaro RS. (still have it too) :D
1985 - just passed my test (one of the first at sixth form). I'm embarrassed to say that mine was a Datsun 120Y. 1.2 liters, a claimed 70 horsepower, rear wheel driver, rampant rust, tail slides with even the slightest amount of water on the road ....
But the insurance on anything bigger/better was ridiculous. At the time, I wanted an Astra GTE, but that got screwed by semi-regular accidents, which completely screwed my chances of ever affording the insurance on a truly interesting, fast car. |
I started driving in '86, with a '78 Granada. It had a 302 in it, and it flew, I could take on most challengers and beat 'em.
1980 Chevy C-10 Longbed. With a 383 and a Turbo 400 trans out of a racecar. Was given to me just before my 14th birthday, my dad told me if I got it running it was mine. Got it running and started racing people immediately  . By the time I was 15 I had gotten it up to 130MPH multiple times and in turn had burned all the valves and blew all the rings by the time I was 15 :( . It was a fun learning experience. Learned how to re wire a truck and destroy within a year :(
1964 Chevy Nova II Wagon, with 50k original miles, straight six, 2 speed powerglide, drove like a champ, damn I miss that one......
1967 Pontiac Firebird, then a 68 firebird, then a 68 GTO, and so on...
Now I have a 67 Frirebird convertible with a 455, a 61 bug, a 66 Mustang etc... Just love the older classics! |
*sigh* 1993 Saturn SC2. 1.9 L of 124(on a good day) screaming horsepower. That's right... meet me at a red light.
1967 Pontiac Executive. Big , 4 door car with a 400ci 333hp motor. It could break traction off the line on dry days with a little over quarter throttle.
2001 civic with NOS....fast as shit boiiii:D
1974 Toyota Celica...it looked like this

95 Camaro Z28.....i still love it every day!
1964 1/2 Mustang - 6 cylinder, 3 speed. Bought it for $400 in 1972 and sold it for $400 in 1973.
Worth a bit more than that now days. |
Ugly ass green 1969 Firebird which I had painted gun metal grey. I wish I still had it!
Back in 84
An 80' Pontiac Pheonix. (dark blue) |
The first car I put money into the purchase of was a 1968 Nova SS: 350, muncie 4 speed with a 12 bolt. Went in halves with my brother for it at age 14.
The first car of my own was a 1968 Camaro, original 327 4 speed and a 10 bolt. My current car is a 1968 Camaro SS all original 350, muncie 4 speed and original 12 bolt. It currently has a 383 with 50 miles on it. it serves for more "spirited driving" :D |
a '95 GTP, still have it, got it in christmas '97.
didn't know much about cars, neither did/does my dad. never buy one for your child, the engine is very high maintenance, i actually read a review of my car when i was in college that said "this is not the car to buy your child going off to college" lol |
I kind of have 2 first cars. I had my 1988 Camaro RS when I had my permit, but due to the... condition of the car and my budget, I had to get rid of it and go for a 1992 Acura Vigor... at first I was pissed, but I've grown to love my Vigor... although I know when I get older I'm going to have to get another Camaro.... maybe 2nd Gen.
1987 325 BMW. It is my only car. Had it for 5 1/2 years now. Learned stick on it too.
My first car was a 1941 Plymouth; I bought it for $10.00. It weighed in at 4200 lbs; the tired 90 H.P. flathead 6 cyl. really had to work to just get it moving, but it was wheels and the AM radio still worked. My SECOND car was a little better: a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk with a super-charged engine; I bought it for $150.00 and did a little work on it; I used to make beer money blowing off Chevys with it.
mine was a 1990 acura legend. i still have it seeing as i got it only about 10 months ago. man i love my car, gets me around everywhere in style and comfort!
bubba |
1978 Porcshe 924. Its pretty good looking and fits me well (a big factor since im 6'7") Produces about 110hp from the 2litre audi engine. Hopefully when I pull the cat converter and add a highflow muffler I can get it up to the 125hp eurospec. Other then that, there isn't much im going to do to the car. wish it was turbocharged but that will cost more then I want to invest in it.
1991 Alfa Romeo 164. Don't get too excited. It was an auto.
1990 Ford Ranger w/ the 4.0L v6 was my first ... after a year I put a Paxton supercharger on it, borla headers and a 3 inch exhaust ... I'd have that truck today if it was not fro my ex .... bitch made me sell it.
1986 Camaro Z-28 with a solid roller 383... I miss that car, it looked like ass, go BAD gas milage, never ran - quite right.
Boy was it fun :D |
1st car, 1988 Mazda Rx7 GTU
1956 International S-110. Strait 6, 131 hp. Still have it, but with a 350 now...
93 ford explorer... v6 4wd auto tranny....
shrug i like it... and i paid for it all myself so im proud of it heres a picture...(linked cuz its big!) |
1987 BMW 320i - Got it at Easter 2002 - Had it for about 7 months, then flipped it over cause I didn't know what a 'ford' was (one of those things where the water flows over the road, fyi). So now I'm on my second car: 1992 Ford Telstar GL 2.0L. It's nothing compared to my previous baby. It's gold though, and has a spoiler! SCORE!!! ;)

1984 Nissan Sentra wagon. Had to clutch and brake with the same foot because the right foot had to be constantly on the gas to keep it running. It was also missing 3rd gear. I put 50k miles on it like that and sold it for 100 bucks.
71 chevy pickup truck. And it was yellow too. I miss it so much.
Mine was a 1990 Honda Accord Lx ran upto 150 K miles before we donated it to charity, I drive a 1998 VW passat now.
1993 acura vigor
'87 mazda mini pickup, it was a really tough truck for all the crap i put it through
'93 Volvo 850....great car and I felt good that I wasn't driving around in little econoboxes like the other kids
1983 Civic wagon. thing was a trooper, but it took a shit on me from lack of maintenance. Funny, seeing as I had it for two years and outlasted what most people thought it was gonna last. I lubbed that car...
82 corolla, what a beast. lol. but it got me from point a to point b
84 camaro v6 t-tops. Turned 16 got my license that morning and 1 hour after that dad and I took off for california from wisconsin. Drove straight threw 34 hours arived in S.D. bought my car a few days later and week after getting there turned around and headed for home. Drove that car all the way back myself following dad.
ford mustang 2003, not a GT, its V6 and automatic, pretty basic, not even a spoiler! plus it's white, im thinking about adding some mod's, maybe switch to a manual transmission, but i dunno much about car tinkering, anyone got any advice?
1967 Ford Mustang

1993 Infinti J30...
Excellent stereo, decent power, so-so styling, but a nice ride and no hassles. |
1974 Lincoln Mark IV, very sweet copper color.
1965 Chrysler Newport, 383 cid, push-button automatic.
2-door, dark red, FM radio in the glove box. 365,000 miles on the odometer. Ran great and partied hard! |
Great old boat; I had a '68 Imperial Crown 4-dr hardtop that was a concert-goers dream; 80+mph on the NYS Thruway was like sittin' in your living room.
1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.
1981 300 SD Merc. No one knows acceleration till you hammer down a 5-inline diesel engine. 322K miles on it, and it runs great, just have to make it look pretty now.
Mine was a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Couple....Big and brown. My dad gave it traded it for changing the timing gears and chain on his olds toronado. First I thought it had a 350 olds engine in it but it turned out to be a 403. I had to put a new carb on it due to the original computer controlled quadrajet was shot. I put a squarebore carb but to get it to fit I had to weld the egr valve shut and grind it off. After I got it running damn was it fast. I could out race IROC's. But it handled like shit though. :(
clio-valver :] a very fast thing for (especially for a beginner) but i had about half year of practice before it in opel vectra 2.0 dti and luckily i didn't crash it just after i started driving it... (2 months ago some guy crashed in me during on a crossroad - he was trying to pass it on red light... and died :/ i'm alive, but no one really knows how its possible, neither do i, but thank you God).
I am way too old...1954 chevy belair with a front bumper that looked like andirons in a fireplace, then I upgraded to a 1957 plymouth with rear fins that had to be a foot high.
1982 Chevy Full Size Van
- Starcraft kit. - Stock Car Transmission, with mild shift kit - 300 Watt Subs, 600 Watt Amp - 350 Chevy. |
My first was a White 1988 Cutlas Cruser Station wagon handed down to me from my uncle big old I got in 1993 with 100K on it. Totaled it with 180K 3 years later.
In 2000 when I got my license I bought a 1997 Volvo V40. I needed a good practical car. Good choice in the end.
Although on the 4th of August 2002 I took delivery of my (then) brandnew BMW 5 series and it is an amazing car. |
Shit then 2002 BMW's aren't a bad car for handling in tight corners.

lol, a 1981 Chevy Chevette - wrecked it 6 months later.
95 Maxima
Mine was a Monteverdi converted Range Rover, he made the 4 doors before range rover did. Mine was like the one in this link, but in black with double lamps and light grills. Beautiful looking car but it would eat gearboxes.
http://www.tobiasullrich.de/montever.../rr/index.html |
I bought my first car in grade 12... it was an 84 Cavalier. Sold it so I could eat when I went to University.
The family car at the time was a Datsun 280zx. I borrowed the car a lot. |
Dodge Dart Sport
'91 Geo Tracker... Still drive it too. I'll have to say that for the POS it turned out to be, it has taken quite a beating and still runs pretty decent.
Too bad the body couldn't keep up with the engine! |
a 1988 Ford Taurus. It had vinyl seats and not A/C in hot ass West Texas. The fuel gauge didnt work so i ran out of gas on more than one occasion (till i figured out how many miles it would last on a tank). And it leaked powersteering fluid like nothing.
But it was the wheels that got me thought HS and we had many a good time in it |
79 Firebird. Still own it today, tossed the 301 for a 400, almost done doing a full "restification."
I was fifteen. Not legally old enough, but, I paid fifteen dollars for a '61 Corvair. It had two crome wheels, a tape deck (that is an 8 track for you younger folks) and, well, that was it. That was 1972. I got it stuck in a ditch. Left it there, just walked away.

'94 VW Golf III, 1.8l. She's my baby. Had an american come visit me recently. Upon looking under the hood, he pronounced "thats a cute little engine"...!! Its a monster....no, really, a beast!! :)
'78 Mustang II
Got it in 1983. Looked like this, only all white with red interior and sun roof. Not very fast, but still lots of fun. Until I wrapped it around a light pole. http://media4.motorcities.com/01EMA191305526A.jpeg |
Red 98 Grand Prix
black 86 mustang SVO
1990 Acura Integra GS.
Just bought *my* first car... 1981 Dodge Omni! The pimposity knows no bounds...
In all honesty its actually in amazing condition.. run some wax over it and clean it out a bit and it's almost right off the showroom. And you can't beat the price; $300. |
test
1976 International Scout II
~It taught me how to fix cars. ~At 75mph+ one could actually see the gas gauge moving (when it worked - after two sending units I gave up just figured out how to calculate my remaining fuel on the dash with a pencil) ~Estimated mileage: 0-50mph: 10mph......50-80mph: 7mph |
1967 Dodge Dart Swinger GT.

1969 Chevy Nova. Straight 6 with a 2 speed Powerglide. Just sold it. No money to drop into it so I sold it to my friend. He's putting a 454 in it! :) I get to drive it down the strip, too *drool*.

78 Toyota Corolla. Puke Green. Broke down all the damn time. I dubbed it the "Green Goblin" and limped my way through college with it. :)
1990 Honda Accord EX Sedan.....crashed it a month after getting it. My insurance company paid to get it fixed ($8000) in damage, and currently I still own it. It NOW has 191,000 miles on it and is my *beater* car. =)
1986 Toyota Tercel Hatchback
The first car was a 76 Ford Maverick. I destroyed it in less than a year, and have been looking ever since for another one like it to replace it with.

Still, the engine's sweet - over quarter of a million clicks and nary a peep. |
Daihatsu Feroza (small 4x4) . Was and easy car to drive and it got up my steep driveway and in the garage preety easy. But i got to leave my Mazda MX6 on the street now, The thing is to damn low ;) but at least it corners and goes much better with 4 weels steering :D
'94 Jeep Wrangler. Still have it, runs great, I love it!
Ford Escort. I beat the hell out of that car.
Current car is a Porsche 928. I beat the hell out of that car too, but it's supposed to be driven that way. :) |
Quote:
I also beat the shit out of my van but it still runs great, because I take good care of the engine:) |
1986 Chevy Cavalier RS, had rust along bottom of both doors, and a big dent in the rear and one in the front. :D
First car I ever owned was this one, I'm the driver:
edit: sorry, no pics of anyone under 18 Later, as soon as I graduated from college and earned a paycheck, the first real car I ever owned I bought for myself; it was a '67 XKE Jag. I should never have sold that car :( |
not my car, just for example. 1988 nissan sentra
