now... okay... brake dust makes them dirty.. so you'll now obsess about cleaning them over and over and over after each time you drive.

cool for just a carshow, but impractical for driving.

Maybe for the car show scene but stupid for the street. I think I'd quickly get tired of them at car shows too, except maybe if they had some huge ceramic rotor/titanium caliper big brake kit behind them.

Anybody ever seen auto wheel spinners that are like a roulette wheel? Now I'd bet on that.

I think they DO look better on bikes than on cars. On the bikes, you don't see as much of the hub in the center which on the cars look a bit odd.

Does anyone else think they're a bit on the expensive side?

I agree, this would be incredibly difficult to keep clean....interesting idea though.

I agree about the cleaning. I'm a stickler for clean wheels-that'd be impossible being that it's solid.

Especially since they look closed. How would you get in there to clean the inside without taking off the wheel?

"can pretty much with-stand anything you can throw at it".... hmm he sure does sound certain about that doesn't he?

I also agree with the majority here on the cleaning part. Too much work for just a see-thru wheel. Wonder what effects heat/cold have on them? Discoloration?

I think you will see a lot of motorcycles with these wheels. For cars, I don't think it makes too much sense (brake dust, dirt, and mud) , but I like the concept. I wonder if they would crack if you go through a pothole?

The idea is so obvious I can't believe nobody thought to do it until now.

(Nobody has made any jokes about transparent aluminum yet?)

I like them on bikes... they look weird on cars. Though I could see some interesting potential with etching/engraving on the surface or embedding things into the plastic such as LEDs or other do-dads.

I would prefer the look to spinners but I'm too old school to appreciate.

I don't see these things catching on.

But, if they do, it's just one more thing for me to laugh at.

That'd be hot if they can use LEDs to make the whole wheel glow red or blue. =)

Good for show not for go, being that they're solid they'd be a pain in the ass to clean especially the back side where all the brake dust will be, rocks and other crap will eventually carve noticeable nicks and blemishs into the clear part and it'll look like crap, and being that they are solid brake ventillation will be pretty bad. All good reasons on why not to spend $2000 on em.

I think they look better on motorcycles too.

It's SEMA, 90% of the junk on display at SEMA is not meant for practical use. It's literally to say "look what I can do", get your name out there with something "incredible" like clear rims, and maybe the other aspects of your business will pick up too.

I gotta give him credit for coming up with something relatively new, even if it is pointless. I think it's better than spinners. Not sure how rap artists will display their clear rims around their necks though?
