I'm kinda having warmer and fuzzier than usual feelings about my car lately so I figured I'd share some thoughts on it and get any comments/feedback from other interested TFP car nuts ...or just look and listen if you prefer.

I've already mentioned in various TFP posts that I have a '95 Supra turbo but I have never posted about it except maybe a long time ago in a "what do you drive" thread.

But the longer I own this car the more I like it and I started out liking it a lot ...so by now I'm practically in love In spite of my occasional hard driving, nothing has ever gone wrong with it and I almost feel guilty just changing the oil and putting gas in it. A testament to Toyota reliability even at the high performance level.

I bought it used just over 6 years ago (believe it or not it was before F&F was even in our vocabulary ...ahhh the good ole days...) when it had under 35k miles and was pure stock and in excellent condition. Within the first year I did a set of "routine" mods to it called "BPU" in Supra lingo, basic performance upgrades. A couple months later I dyno'd it at 435rwhp/455ftlbs rwtq which still feels pretty healthy. I still run the stock twin turbos in sequential mode, even on road course events I do a few times a year, and they spool up so fast I hardly know they're turbos ...excellent throttle response and plenty of low end torque and power.

Even though my stock turbos are still working very well and seem healthy, for the next couple weeks I'm collecting some new parts to convert to a larger but still smallish for a Supra single turbo setup, with additional supporting hardware, which will put it just over 500whp at "road race track tune" and if I crank it up on race gas it will probably be a tad over 600whp. Many who don't know this car might be skeptical, but even at that level I expect it to run perfectly reliably practically indefinitely. Add that to my love list

Since I was recently working on these pics, here's a couple to give you a look. One is just me standing behind my car at a local meet; the other is my car at the top of the Phila Art Museum steps sort of ala Rocky and I just edited out a couple people's heads that were sticking over the steps to clean up the shot.

i know how feelings for a car grow...
when i first got my explorer i just felt it was transportation... but over the 4 years i've owned her I've really started liking her, she's no longer just transportation to me...

Thanks, from two who seem to already have liked the Supra.

As you know, others around here may be more into domestic hardware or have other brand preferences, so I'm curious what other comments I'll see. Regarding domestic hardware, since I was 18yo in 1967, the heyday of big American Iron, that still occupies a dear place in my heart.

I like your car, and Supras in general, a lot and I'm quite envious of the horsepower potential of that motor. Keep it clean and post lots of pictures!

Needless to say, I totally understand being enamored with ones car.

I really really like your Supra too. That's the best version they ever made IMO and yours is a great example of it.

And I believe you about the reliability after the turbo upgrade. Every toyota I've ever owned has had a motor that was damn near bulletproof.

Big Supra fan here! Very nice car. My first car was a '88 turbo. Still wish I had it.

I love American Muscle to no end, but those Supras are beautiful.
I might trade my Cougar in for one if I had the chance.
But still, those Supras always demand a nice stare when I drive by in the parking lot, and yours, with nearing 500 whp, well wow. Congrats on owning a kickass car.

I'm a muscle car nut and will never have enough cash to own a Supra, and I really don't see myself driving one but that doesn't mean its not a sexy car.

Thanks, all. I appreciate the appreciation of this fine car, which is not all my doing, I have to give Toyota most of the credit.

How about 1:17? ...j/k I think most people mean "drag racing" when they ask that. And I'm pulling that out of my head as a good lap time at Pocono/East Course where I have laid down good lap times. That little last pic I posted was at Pocono, but not the East Course; I think that was an SCCA event running a much longer high speed setup.

I have not drag raced it since shortly after I purchased it before it was modified ...well I had a couple minor parts on it... I ran it at Atco (NJ) on really bad traction tires (Yoko A520's) that came on the car when I got it and I had no experience doing that and ran a low 14 best et, quite off the mark of what it could do in more experienced hands and better conditions. I think I could do a lot better now, not just because of the power but because I've been driving the car for 6 years now, including aggressive track driving.

clean looking supra. I am a big fan of the mkiv supra. specially when it is black and has no kit to screw up the near perfect lines. couple of good sites incase you didn't know are: to4r.com, supraforums.com, or mkiv.org (or com? i don't remember.) just out of curiosity, what tracks do you take it on? *a

Thanks for thinking of those links, but I've been involved in them for enough years that I did know them already, but thanks again. Of course my car isn't up to snuff for the likes of to4r.com, but for better or worse I spend too much time on the other forums you mentioned.

Since Pocono is so close to home, 1-1/2hrs, I go there most of the time. That last little pic above is Pocono. They have five or six different track setups there which include part of the NASCAR tri-oval and various infield configs. I also go to Watkins Glen once a year for like a three day weekend of blasting around, WG is my favorite track it is awesome and so historical ...almost religious to run there.

Got any details/pics of your Silvia?
