i used to have some of my works posted here, but i think that was before v4.0, so i figured id add some new stuff and repost the old....

"Let Me In"
you called out to me in the night
and i came
i held you in my arms and comforted you
you cried stale tears of fear and remorse
and i let you be numb and lifeless
while i gently stroked your hair
i kissed you and told you everything would be alright
and for that moment you believed
when you awoke your burdens were gone
or was i too quick to assume?
just as magicians perform sleights of hand
you are adept at hiding the pain
you wont even admit it ever was there

so i call out to you "please let me in"
for ive seen the recesses of your deepest fears
i reach out a hand to soothe the wound
but you slap it away, holding onto your pride
once again im on the outside
blocked by an impenetrable fortress
and again i hear your cries for help
as you plead my name over.....and over
you open the gates and usher me in
only to act like nothing is wrong
and when i ask to heal you, you turn me away
so i walk, just keep walking
turning my back on your pain and sorrow
because you force me to
i play along with your little game
but how long will i be able to ignore your pleas?
your anguished voice and trembling words....

when will you let me hold you again so you can cry?

"Thinking of You"

miles apart yet i still feel
your body against mine
your arms hold me close
you talk softly of nothing in particular
warm breath on my neck
our legs brush against each other
cold toes underneath cotton sheets
we both fall asleep knowing day is only a few hours away
i don't want to get up
why can't i stay?
a gentle kiss goodbye
as my thoughts slowly come back to reality

my mind is numb, my thoughts are gone
the recess of my heart is bare
my soul is lacking things i long for
but now i'm broken and i don't care
there is no sunshine, there is no day
there's only darkness and shades of gray
the world is tilted; spinning fast
and now i wish to breathe my last

"Cover it Up"

You cover it up
With bandaids of smiles and fake "im ok"s
You dont seem to be yourself much these days
You cover up all the pain on the outside
And send it inside, where it resides
Sometimes you dont know whats pain and whats not
So you bundle up everything and force it to hide

All the experiences over the years
The joys, the sorrows, the laughter, the tears
The love you felt also went away
Not a single emotion you allow to remain
You tell me its ok, you say youre just fine
You tell me to worry bout only whats mine
I clearly see anguish in your beautiful eyes
But to keep me away you force smiles and tell lies
I cant help but wonder, where did things go wrong
What made you want to shut me out for so long
I guess its no matter, youll do what you must
And ill just go quietly, wont put up a fuss

I loved you intensely, so deeply, so purely
But thats locked away now, I hid it securely
......I covered it up

"Let Me In" and "Cover It Up" sounds like a situation I was in. I broke up with the girl because she would not let me in. That kind of emotional pain and struggle was too much for me too handle. A year and a half ago was when I ended the relationship, I feel fine now and rarely think about that part of my past as I look towards new horizons.

Thanks for sharing, I'd never read your works before.

Last Nite

i listen closely to the sound i hear
(it's like the beating of a drum)
only to realize the culprit is my heart
racing to a non-existent finish line
i read the words on the screen
and my heart leaps into my throat
choking me with emotions i thought had vanished long ago
i think of what to say
but every thought possible has gone; my head is empty
my hands deftly glide over the keys
leaving you with a mere representation of how i feel
and you never see the blush of my cheeks
or the warm smile that creeps across my lips

i sit there in anticipation of what you might say
wondering if it's possible you might feel the way i do
and a picture of you appears in my mind
with your shy smile and intelligent eyes
and i imagine your hand brushing against mine
and then it becomes lips, and then hearts
and i realize i am getting ahead of myself
but i feel it may be just a matter of time
....until i fall
