Anything out there that will straighten eyes that are a bit crossed?

Hello all.
When I was born, my eyes were crossed and my eyesight was way off. I've worn glasses ever since and now I have 20/20 vision with my glasses (which I was told was amazing considering how screwed up my eyes were) but my eyes are still just a bit crossed still.

Well lots of new things have been invented and improved since I was born. I was wondering if there was anything out there now that can straighten out my eyes the rest of the way. It screws with my driving sometimes. It mainly just annoys me sometimes. They're not crossed all the time I don't think. I dunno. I think that's why the eye doctor hasn't done anything about them. Only happens certain times. He thinks I'm crazy or something. Haven't seen our new one yet.

Anyways, is there any thing nowadays that'll solve this problem?

I've got pretty messed up eyes too. Even with glasses and contacts my left eye is only 20/25. Anyway, when I was around 4 my parents took me to the eye doctors and I got my first pair of glasses. Huge coke bottle deals. Nice plastic pink frames too. Oh, and the best part is that I got to wear an eye patch over my right eye to correct my left eye. I was starting to develope a lazy eye, and I guess one way to correct this is to patch up the other and make that lazy eye work.

So... I'm not sure if something like that would work in your case, as it seems that both eyes are in need of help. But make sure to explain what happens to your new eye doc. And if he thinks you're crazy too, well walk out that door and find a doctor who will believe his patient.

Good luck, I know how crappy it is to have poor eyesight.

You could make it your "thing" and make a career of it like Marty did:

Seriously though, I haven't heard of any new advances but my friend's daughter has been doing what Averett did with the patch... It seems to be working for her.

No new advances huh??? What are these scientists and inventers doing??? Come on ya guys. Almost everything has been imporved cept for the eyes. They've been working on blindness but that's about it. And where's my eye drops, that the eye doctor uses that stings like hell, that don't sting? We need to get some people on this.

Maybe you can look into muscle exercises for the eyes. I messed up my neck and was having eye pain and blurry vision. I had an AMAZING physiotherapist and he gave me eye excercises to do and it clear everything up. 20/20 now.

I used to have a lazy eye (and still do, I suppose). The doc gave me a prescription with a prism in it. I guess the fact that the light is bent differently in the prism'd lens makes that eye stronger... I also have contacts now, and they don't have a prism. If I'm really tired, my eyes might blur temporarily, but that's it.

Take a pen or pencil, hold it in front of your face to where you can comfortably see it. Move it from left to right and then right to left, following only with your eyes...bring the pen/pencil closer each round, until it is just out of focus and try to focus on it while doing the side to side exercises. Only moving your eyes, look up into your eyelids as far as you can, down (again, don't move your head!), then all the way left - all the way right. This keeps you from having tunnel vision, strengthens muscles in your eyes and stretches them as well - which can help with the cross-eyed affliction you have. Hope this helps
