I have been sober for ~14 months or so. But I was borderline pothead for most of college ;-)
When I smoke, I feel like really relaxed, my eyes get puffy, and everything kind of feels good. Things that normally wouldn’t be that funny are suddenly hilarious and as you start coming down you get hungry (hence the "munchies") Its allot of fun, but then again its too much fun and you sort of want to keep doing it, day after day. Next thing you know your smoking a few times a day and you realize you cant remember allot of the details from the last 6 months (or years ;-). Pot isn’t physically addictive (like coke or heroin where your body starts breaking down when you don’t get it) it’s mentally addictive (your head likes it way to much and you don’t seem to want to quit). It affects different people different ways. The first couple of times I smoked I didn’t really seem “high”. It wasn’t because I wasn’t high, it was because I didn’t know what to look for.

When the feelings started kicking in, I felt like I was a big lethargic fuzzball. Any plans formulated are off. Look for prolonged interest in normally uninteresting things, increased paranoia, lazy eyes, altered sense of touch, extreme relaxation (could lead to sexual arousal, but that depends more on who you get high with), and an almost drunken sense of humor.

Everything is slower and a lot funnier. I remember at a party one night playing foosball (sp?) while very high and I was totally fixated on the goalie, who we had named Peter Ing (ex Maple Leaf). It was awesome.

To be honest, i think your high when you suddenly think 'damn, i'm actually rather stoned, now wheres that cow and my lighter'.
Anything before that is just getting there. Other than that, usually just when i find myself getting really comfortable and quiet (though some people get louder), and find everything really interesting, along with some munchies, always with the munchies. *goes to find munchies* |

I dont smoke a lot...meaning only once every few months...I've been known to do it when I was out of migraine meds cause it works way better....or at a party...like this past weekend...I was at a birthday party for a friends 40th..I hit a joint a few times before we left (no I wasnt driving).
When we got home I laid down on the bed....because I dont smoke often i get really really really stoned hehehe and Friday I knew I was stoned when I was laying in bed with Dave discussing life on other planets and I remember telling him that I wouldnt mind an anal alien probe if it was done by a race of aliens that all looked liked like christopher lambert and sean connery all wearing kilts then I got the munchies and consumed 8 reeses peanut butter cups

I can't explain what it feels like, everything is "3D". I can't explain it. Oh, and also things can be a little brighter if they're darker colors.
I've heard that a lot of marijuana's high is what you expect. I wonder what would happen if the media perpetuated a stereotype that marijuana makes you have an explosive orgasm... |

lol. I took my name from Dan Daoust, another famous ex-Leaf. Remember him? He wasn't in the foosball game. Anyway, I'd like to hear some stories about things you've said or done while stoned. Drunk stories aren't as funny or rich. Stoner stories always make me laugh... I'll start. At the same party where I was playing foosball with Peter Ing (I did get stoned more than once, but this night was memorable, sort of) I had eaten about 3 grams of 'shrooms and the third gram was all shake. So I was at this party and I went to the can and I noticed all the shake was in my teeth and it looked like I had just eaten a gram of pepper. I'm not sure who's house it was, but I grabbed the closest toothbrush and brushed out all the 'shroom shake out of my teeth. THen I went back to the foosball table...

Your senses will seem WAY off.
Like cowman said: you'll know. There's no definitive feeling that everyone has - each person is different. Some get very hyper, some get sleepy, others zone out, some don't realize they're high until they watch a movie or hear music and it turns out to be very different from when they're sober, etc. Generally if you're consuming a substance like weed, coke, etc... you'll KNOW when it kicks in. If you're sitting there thinking, "hmm.. am I high? I can't tell." then chances are: you aren't. Ever drink alcohol? It's equivalent to asking, "How do you know when you're drunk?" You'll know. You can just feel it all over. Your mood changes, your consciousness is a bit altered, etc.

i start spacing out some
and it feels like there is a small pressure in my head and then i start feeling good all over and body parts become heavy and i just want to sit and my vision starts getting "googly" around the edge of my sight range when im really stoned. Also food of any kind becomes the best tasting thing ever, as far as i know ive never gotten hungry after smoking but out of bordom and what sounds good ill eat food because its just awesome, especially a cake type food as it has awesome textures you can feel with your tongue. quick edit if you have to think "am i stoned?" you are probably really really really high but concentrating too hard on trying to feel stoned that you dont notice how infact toe up you are |

Usually when I get high I'll keep on moving one of my limbs for about 30 minutes, then I'll go eat a box of cookies. I'll also feel extremely good all over, and I'll have no pain/aches in my body.
I remember when I first got high in high school (is that a pun?) it was during lunch and in the class after that I started to realize I felt so good and I liked to move my foot up and down. I didn't realize, at least not then, that I was sitting down with a big smile plastered on my face with red eyes and I kept on stomping the ground with my foot. |

id say that you are high when you start losing your senses. Distances seem further (the bathroom - the kitchen - too far to walk LOL)
also a good sign is your head. does it feel different? Id say its different for everyone but if you cant tell, you probably are not high!

I was once asked what would happen if a room full of people got stoned without their knowing it, how would they react?
Some of the symptoms might be: Confusion, possible nausia, dry mouth and eyes, some would feel sleepy, others on edge, depending on their level of comfort and mood, loss of judgement, changes to attention span (some people can't focus on anything for more than 5 seconds, while others can become highly focused on something for an extended period of time - again depending on comfort and mood) It's all very subjective - I think if I had to choose one effect, it would be that it makes people far more sensitive to their surroundings - but not necessarily conciously. Watch a group of stoned people and see how differently they behave when you are playing upbeat music, than if you play something really slow. |

For me, it's fucking frightening. Paranoia squared. Nightmares the last time I slept it off, too. Lots of doubts fill up about what I'm doing with my life. Needless to say, I don't smoke as much as I use to.
And I use to because it use to be fun, goddamnit. But now it's just a gripping fear of... everything. |

for me, I 'understand' everything (or at least I think I do) the universe makes sense, the carrot makes sense. Also everything seems to be slow-motion, and I will think i'm doing something but then I realize I've been in the same spot for an indeterminable amount of time (time gets all messed up for me too). Mild paranoia, but it varies from person to person. I think that if you are high you will know it.

If you have to ask, you're not high.
But many people don't actually get high the first time they smoke, or the second. I remember that I didn't actually get high enough to where I knew it wasn't psycosomatic or all in my head until my fourth time doing it. |
