52 Day Challenge Invitation...
The Mens Health forum has been hosting a challenge for a couple years now called the 52 Day Challenge. We are in the process of taking the challenge off of being a "Men's Health Belly Off Club" event only and making it available and easy to use for anyone. In the past you had to be a forum member to join, and now it's open enrollment.
The next challenge starts March 24th and will run through May 14th. If you are interested, check out http://www.52daychallenge.com and you can read the faq here: http://forums.menshealth.com/thread....&thread=111389 We are still working on the migration ![]() If you have any questions let me know! -jb |

I'm interested in taking a shot at this, and have a few questions:
The thread on calculating BMR is very informative, but i'm not certain how to adjust it along with working out? It advises to not subtract a certain amount of calories, so I would assume that instead of 'subtracting' these calories from my diet(BMR), they should be subtracted by doing excercises that burn the amount that I want to subtract? Also, for goal 3, it says '10 is a good goal'. 10 what? It appears to mean 'sessions', but i''m not sure what a 'session' is, or does this refer to minutes? Or is a session one period of working out for one half day? I may be missing something obvious here... ![]() Anyway, thanks for any advice you can give! Also, sorry if any of this is answered on the Men's Health forum, but the way that site handles responses to threads is absolutely terrible, every response is a separate page, that makes it difficult to find anything, especially when half of the responses are just *bump*! ![]() |

Big, I've been doing some reading on cardio. Take what I'm saying with a mountain of salt, it is the result of a few days research only.
If you spend too much time doing cardio, you switch from normal-fat/sugar burning mode into "oh shit, I need more energy, must outrun this wolf" muscle burning mode. That happens after you exaust your glycogen reserves. I've heard numbers from 45 minutes to 1+ hours at a moderate pace to do this. Probably HIIT would do it faster. I'd assume that one "session" would be burning yourself down to this point? Hell of alot of assumptions here. Hopefully someone can smack some sense into it who knows more! That page has made me seriously consider going on Vitamin pills tho.
