Milwaukee
The wife and I are off to Milwaukee next week for four days, work is sending me to a newspaper convention. We will have some time to check out things, I was wondering if anyone knew of any interesting sights or must do places to see.
It should be quite fun…especially since we live in a small town that is five blocks long and three streets wide…LOL We would like to maybe check out a comedy club or a show and maybe some of the downtown sights. We will be staying at the Wyndham Milwaukee Center. Thanks in advance, Fishin’ Musician |

What are the dates you're going to be here?
I can reccomend a show perhaps, something uniquly Milwaukee, but I need to know if you're going to be here when said artist is performing in town. Other than that, There's always the old stand-bys, Take a Miller Brewery tour or Sprecher for that matter. Check out the Calatrava, (the world class art museum on the lakefront) Visit at noon to see the "wings" open and close. The Domes are interesting, for about an hour or two. I haven't been there myself in quite some time though. Visit the casino if you feel like you've got too much money. It's very pretty, but hard to find a table game that's not full or a slot machine that's not expensive so therefore this I don't really reccomend this. If you plan on going out for a drink, you MUST go to the Safe House if only just to say you've been there. There's nothing like it anywhere. Just ask around for directions, just don't expect to be given the password. It's too bad that you won't be here during the summer. That is when Milwaukee has the most to offer. Summerfest, or countless other festivals, the state fair, Baseball at Miller Park. During the cold winter months, (October - April) most of us just drink a lot.

scansinboy,
thanks for the info...we will be there March 4th thru the 8th, but the evening/night of the 4th is the only time we will have enough time to maybe do a show. We saw the website of the Safe House, looks cool...were thinkin' on doing that Friday night. Plus we will have to hit the casino sometime...wife will need to get her fix. Thanks again, Fishin Musician |

The show I was going to reccomend was Pat McCurdy, Website but unfortunately he is playing a private party the night of the fourth. FYI he's a one man show, just him and a guitar, very difficult to describe. Lots of goofy funny (sometimes interactive)songs about love, sex, relationships,(both good and bad ones) drinking, religion, politics and everything else under the sun.
It's a shame you won't get to experience the controlled insanity that we in Milwaukee know simply as a "Pat Show." Click here for a 2.2M sample. (Hopefully it will work, if not I can email it to you if you like)

scansinboy had some great ideas. I think it is a pretty place. . . in the summer mostly though. I took the Miller tour and had a good time. The downtown area is younger than I expected and was pleasantly surprised.
http://www.lehmanns.com/ While this is in Racine, I think you can sometimesfind them in other stores in Milwaukee. You should really try these. They are very unique and something that you cannot find anywhere else in the country. Quote:

What were those? Kringle?
Anyhoo, I used to work in the restaurant that was right next to the art museum, and we would get LOTS of out of towners coming in for lunch after stopping by the museum. So naturally, 'What's there to do in this town?' was a question I got all the time. What I mentioned above were the top wintertime touristy things. And I ALWAYS reccomended they go to the Safe House, but NEVER gave them the password to get in. Either that or gave them a fake one. James Bond sent me. heh heh

Ahh, you're thinking of Blu, on top of the Pfister. Nice views, kinda pricey. And for steaks, Mo's is good, but I would reccomend The Chophouse, inside the Milwaukee Hilton before Mo's. Just a personal preference.
