Something that hasn't been mentioned:
When you flush, the water action aerosolizes (makes very small water droplets airborn) some of the contents of the bowl. These droplets will float with the air currents of the room and deposit themselves on the surfaces they encounter. In otherwords, your soap, your hairbrush, your toothbrush.... And this is the BEST reason to put the lid down before you flush, IMO!!

After a crappy night, this thread has made it oh so more enjoyable. The part about going into a womens toilet and putting the seat up...gosh...thats a crack up. Ive done that before, it gives u that 'El-macho-superior feeling'. Ive fallen back on the toilet before, when there no seat...its kinda uncomfy. But I hate accidentally peeing on the seat, so I usually leave it up! Theres one woman and 5 males in this house...we have right of way :P

What about this: My inlaws have those cushions on their lids. They won't stand up on their own, so when you piss, you gotta hold lid and seat with one hand, and aim (however inefficiently) with the other. HOW MESSED UP IS THAT? |

Two things I always do. Watch where I put my feet and where I sit my butt down. Never has been a problem, however, there was the one time when a pet Cockatoo, who was incredibly tame and greatly loved, drowned in the toilet while attempting to drink. I always put the lid down, BOTH lids. By the way, it was my GF who left the lid up when my beloved pet met his demise.

I normally put the seat down. I was the only guy living in the house from the time I was 8 till I moved out, so it's been beaten into me.
However, on occasion my wife will drive my car. She never puts the seat back which always leads to me ramming my already bad knees off the steering column. Perhaps I should start leaving the seat up?
