Something that hasn't been mentioned:

When you flush, the water action aerosolizes (makes very small water droplets airborn) some of the contents of the bowl. These droplets will float with the air currents of the room and deposit themselves on the surfaces they encounter.

In otherwords, your soap, your hairbrush, your toothbrush....


And this is the BEST reason to put the lid down before you flush, IMO!!
