Tax Question - Oregon Specific
Greetings,
I remember reading some really good tax tip / financial advice posts in the old tilted money forum, so hopefully this is the right place to post such a question: This year, Oregon residents received a "kicker check" which refunded them some of their state taxes paid in the last 2 years. It is my understanding that this is considered a taxable income for federal tax purposes... my question is: where do you report it? Is it considered "other income" and should it just be added to your state refund amount, or should i expect a 1099G, or is there some other place to put it? I tried google for an answer to this, since i assume it would be a fairly common question, but since the turbotax screw up which cheated a bunch of residents out of their kicker checks this year, all i can find are headlines about that mix up, and nothing about how to report this income in 2007 federal taxes. |

My best guess would be to go to the Oregon's Dept of Revenue website and see if there is something posted there.
Kicker information is smack dab, center on the front page. http://www.oregon.gov/DOR/ If you follow the link, this information is given on the full page of info: Quote:
