Lava Soap (if it's still available) was great for getting off pretty much anything.
Sea Breeze Astringinent is wonderful for getting permanent hair color off your skin -- might work with permanent magic marker. Hairspray is a great trick for getting ball point pen out of cotton clothing (also is a great fly killer) not sure it'd work on permanent pen.

Nail polish remover worked for my permanent marker fun times, as I didn't have any rubbing alcohol laying around.
