How to spread the word?
My sister has made a website to sell handmade jewelry, but is having a difficult time getting traffic to her site. She is currently trying to set up a link exchange with pretty much any similar jewelry site she can find, but many have turned her down because she does not have a Google rank. Unfortunately, the only way she can figure out how to get a Google rank is to have people link to her.
Google also does not seem to be spidering anything other than her main page; is there some way to instruct what should be spidered and what should not? Here is a link to her site, if anyone can give advice on making it more Google-friendly. http://www.shyviolet.net/ |

I would recommend that she also start selling this stuff on ebay. It's a good place to find people who are looking for what she has to offer. The idea, after all, is to sell her jewelry, not to get traffic to her site.
If she can get her ebay storefront going, people will start clicking on her website also to see what else she has to offer. Then the uphilll spiral begins and before you know it: Boom lucky! Billionaire.

You probably want to start by affiliating yourself with another, established person. Try showing her work to other sites featuring pre-made jewelry and ask if they would like to add her to their artists. Also check local bead shops, or her suppliers, and ask if they would like to display her work as examples of what can be done with their beads. That way, you get access to an already-established body of customers.
