If we buy crap they will make crap!

Development on the previously announced Tribes: Vengeance 1.1 update has been cancelled. No further updates to Tribes: Vengeance are planned.

Vivendi Universal needs to be boycotted by all! It is bad enough that so many games get released that are unfinished, but to get peoples money and promise a patch, then 6 months later just say oh well we are done, on to taking your money with the next beta release. This is not the first game they have done this with either. They buy up the rights release under a good game title and then produce crap and not support it. Well I am done ranting, just thought if I could get only 1 person not to buy from them then I have helped the cause.

The reason this fact is true is because everyone relies on their friends and family to say which games are good. Then you go buy the game that your cousin said rocked and find out he just liked it because the main character has breasts.

READ VIDEOGAME REVIEWS. These people are not paid to lie. They are not fanboys like your cousin. They are not opinionated. They are trained to notice and point out aspects of games that gamers want to know about. Read the reviews and buy the games that get good reviews. It's really not hard!

And Vivendi is probably spending all of their money on WoW.

Not all magazines are worth listening to as reviewers. Game Informer is a publication from GameStop, they have an interest in selling games and collecting money from advertising in that magazine.

One of the problems of all reviewers from cars to games is that the industry advertises inside of them, so there's potential for bias. If they say a game sucks.. then the company pulls advertising for a few months to teach them a lesson. That's one of the reasons true shovelware still gets a 4-6 rating in many magazines. To me I've learned that 4-6 is really the same as 0-3 in a 1-5 rating system, which as far as I'm concerned doesn't warrant my $$$.

I almost always do a lot of research before buying a $50 game. I say almost always, because I feel pretty safe with Blizzard and id. But I have been burned too many times by impulse buys. Do your homework. Don't feel that you just HAVE to have a game on its first day out. It's ok to wait a few weeks to let the reviews flow.

Really a shame how this franchise has been killed off. Tribes at its best is still my #1 game of all time. I played the T:V beta and actually thought it was pretty good and put $5 down on a preorder. But when it came out, I was too busy to play it, then my computer that could run the game had a hard drive meltdown, I was building a new system anyway and it took me a while to do that, then my DSL went down for over a month, and now it's now and I still haven't played, but one of these days I'll go buy it hopefully for $15 if they still have that preorder.

I don't buy a single game if it gets below an 8.0 average from www.metacritic.com , Electronic Gaming Monthly, or IGN.com. I agree that 4-6 is basically a waste of money. I also believe it's important to find a review site or magazine that you agree with so you don't gotta worry about payoffs. That's why I stick to a combination of the aforementioned sources.

heck i'm such a cheap gamer that I'll even wait until it gets into a bargain bin... of course some strong games that are really good hold their price for well into the game cycle.

Yea the sad part on this game is it had potential and with some bug fixes and balance issues could be a good game!

I totally agree with you guys on reading reviews, which T:V got decent reviews. I am just guessing that it didn't meet their sales expectations so time for them to move on.

One place I have never bothered to check was the Better Business Bureau for company reviews, Vivendi Universal was rated with a F. Might be something I check in the future.

This along with Interstate '76 will always live on in my memories...

Alas, neither franchise can be (or will be) resucitated...

I hope another highly addicting, underrated game comes out soon... :P

I use gamerankings.com like Coppertop, but metacritic looks pretty comprehensive as well. Thanks for the link!
