One of the problems of all reviewers from cars to games is that the industry advertises inside of them, so there's potential for bias. If they say a game sucks.. then the company pulls advertising for a few months to teach them a lesson. That's one of the reasons true shovelware still gets a 4-6 rating in many magazines. To me I've learned that 4-6 is really the same as 0-3 in a 1-5 rating system, which as far as I'm concerned doesn't warrant my $$$.

I don't buy a single game if it gets below an 8.0 average from
www.metacritic.com , Electronic Gaming Monthly, or IGN.com. I agree that 4-6 is basically a waste of money. I also believe it's important to find a review site or magazine that you agree with so you don't gotta worry about payoffs. That's why I stick to a combination of the aforementioned sources.
