I never knew they were making another one. Number 1 and 2 were great. I hope my comp. can handle it when it does come out though.

I haven't heard anything but rumors, cool to see that there's a date listed now. I definitely enjoyed the first and second ones, so hopefully the third will be just as good or better. Blizzard usually seems to do a good job, so we'll see, I suppose.

I would love to see 3 made, I just hope they don't charge like WOW. Personally I would rather see a different game than starcraft, warcraft, or diablo.

I'd like to see if they'll keep it as point and click. Maybe they can make this one slightly less addicting.

I surely hope that you don't really mean that... I mean it's Diablo... It's soo evil that we just HAVE to be addicted to it whether we like it or not.

I just wonder how much sleep will be lost the first month that the game is available tho.

yeah, Diablo 2 stole a whole summer from me a few years ago. I played with a bunch of people I worked with, so we'd just talk about it the whole time. Funniest moment was when we were playing with some other people, all allied with eachother at the start. A little bit later, two of them decide to hostile everyone....except me. So, this guy is shooting frozen orb after frozen orb at me and its doing nothing. Then, he's truly confounded at this time, complains that he can't kill me, to which his buddy replies that I must have some kind of super cold resist. By this point I'm in tears. So, I finally hostile him, kill his sorc, and leave the game. Best moment ever. The next day I find out that after I left, he was still ranting about "my cold resist."

If it was comin out next year, you'd see it up on Blizzard's site. They have their hands full with WoW still, as well as StarCraft: Ghost, so D3 is highly unlikely.

StarCraft seems to be the next logical choice here, since it's one of their hottest selling games, and the ONLY one without a sequel.

Yeah, any active player of WoW will tell you that Blizzard still has quite a few wrinkles to iron out of it. Blizzard can usually be relied upon to release finished products and continue to support them, though, so I think they're actually going to bother to keep at WoW until it really works. They just released a patch for pre-Brood War Starcraft, for heaven's sake. The game is pushing 10 years.

Which brings me to my second point...Starcraft is way, way overdue for a full-blown sequel. It wouldn't surprise me if Ghost was the herald of Starcraft 2 in the same way that Warcraft 3 was of WoW. I'm actually rather surprised every time Blizz anounces the Next Frickin' Huge Game and it isn't the Starcraft sequel. You can still find Starcraft at every decent computer cafe with a gaming section and it's been in the rotation of surefire games to bring to LAN party since before the original Half Life was. Any decent piece of gaming with the SC title is a guaranteed grand slam for Blizz.

There's no way D3 will be released april next year. Any website that posts something like that is just starting a rumor to drive traffic to their website
I'm really more interested in what Flagship studios is doing than I am Blizzard.
Starcraft ghost is probably going to be good, but it would have been a hell of alot better if it came out 6-7 months ago.

I wonder how many mice the Diablo franchise is repsonsible for killing? You'd hope they'd get a clue from such games as Dungeon Siege.

so from blizzard 04/06 means like 06/08, so i will have diablo III by the time i get my first doctorate, at least i will have time to play it then. I hope it can live up to the first two and that online gaming will be free again

I look forward to the day Diablo III comes out. I hope they stick to the realease date. But, I highly doubt that they will keep it. In fact, I would put money on it. They pushed back the release date of DII for a extremely long time (I think for more than a year). I would doubt that they could finish DIII it on time.

Exactly, their release dates ALWAYS seem to get pushed back! I guess it's better because that means the game is more thoroughly done, but it still is frustrating... Don't bother to announce a release date if it doesn't mean anything, then nobody will get their hopes up or bother you to get it done more quickly.

Wait.. back up.. Diablo 3?? They can't do that, they havent released Starcraft 2 or Starcraft Ghost...

Well at least we can take heart in the fact that if they are announcing it unofficially now, it'll be out late 2011

Release dates are insisted upon by publishers and marketing who need to ramp up campaigns six months before completion. I am happy that there are still companies that will push the release date back to make a better product rather than shove it out the door prematurely. As such, I don't pay much attention to release dates, or habitually tack on 6 months to the one given.

I agree.. Im used to Blizzard being "late" with games, and I've never been disapointed with a title they have released

didn't the blizzard group who made the Diablo series leave Blizzard and make their own company? The same company that is making Guild Wars. Arena Net I believe the company is now called. It makes me sad but I think that Guild Wars will be the closest thing we will see to a Diablo III, unless another Blizzard group decides to take it on.

yup, the first thing I thought when I saw this was "those jerks haven't finished with Ghost." I think D3 will be extremely good when (if) it comes out, (although I sort of like D1 better than 2, it just seems more spooky (music/graphics) and the items in D2 just seem soo repetitive. if you got an artifact in D1 or even some magical items, you could tell the difference right away, and you would slay.

That site is obviously just making that date up. Blizzard hasn't even announced that the game is in production, much less a release date! Plus, Blizzard never gives out release dates... even after a game has gone gold they usually don't say when it'll be in stores.

The closest thing you usually get out of them is "second half of 2006" or some-such nonesense, and usually that means december 2007.

I love D2 and I loved Diablo when it came out. I love d2 gives shout outs to players who played the first game (i.e. wirt being the kid who's leg you use for the secret cow level, who didn't want to see him dead after seeing his prices?). If they're giong to come out with a d3 they need to seriously SERIOUSLY fix battle.net. I just recently got into d2 for the third time. (yes, its that addicting) and battle.net is just as terrible as it was before i quit the first time because of it. they've made steps to fixing it but they havne't really fixed anything except for reduced the cheating. and if d3 doesn't have auto-map for the whole act then they're retarded.

the people that made arena net were some of the people that create battle.net. Bill Roper and his crew of miscreants went off and created Flagship studios. They're off creationg something.. I've only seen a few conceptual concepts but either way I can't wait to see what they end up coming out with.

They'll just take ideas out of hollywood's book and write sequels to things that don't make sense in any fashion to have a sequel.
