Paper mario 2
Anyone try this game yet? Blockbuster had a buy one - get the second half off deal on pre-played games, so I picked up Baten Kaitos and Paper Mario 2.
The game is awesome, brings me back to Super Mario RPG on Super Nintendo. The graphics are really great, and the simple, but surprising deep, gameplay is very addictive. There's a lot of reading in it which slows the game a bit, but the story is great and pretty funny at times. If you like RPGs and have a gamecube, pick this one up.

I was disappointed with it. The text/content ratio is horrible. I LOVE text heavy games, but there needs to be a point to that text. After a while just doesn't seem to be the case with PM2. The battle system was ok, with the exception of the slot machine, which contributed greatly to me not quite finishing the game (2nd time I made it to level 100 in the pit of trials and was looking like a win, I get hit with trip poison shrooms. great, just wasted three hours for nothing).
I was continualy frustrated with the games concept. They should of called it "When we want it to be paper, it's Paper Mario". The design seemed to lack a cohesive set of rules for how things are constructed in the world (are things 'painted' on a peice of paper, or are objects constructed in 3 deminsions out of paper? At the least, for each object/scene whatever, they should have picked one of those and stuck with it instead of switching to whatever they needed it to be). I was also highly disappointed by the complete lack of textures in the game. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the game a great deal while I played it, I just wish they'd done it better. I think a lot of people can get enjoyment from it, but it can also be a big let down as you go through it. I'd recommend picking it up used for cheap if you needed a game to play, for sure.

The only part I didn't like was the parts in the game that you had to fold into a paper airplane... cause I would always end up hitting the corner of what I was aiming for and fall down. But beside that, Im loving it so far.

There is a lack of content imo. But, I definitely enjoy it more than most games I have. It's better than metroid and GTA: San Andreas to me.
I've exclusively played this game and Kingdom Hearts over the past month. Last edited by Justsomeguy; 01-25-2005 at 02:16 PM.. |

I just finished it today and really enjoyed it. Now I've got to go back and complete the little side quests.
So far I'm at level 90 in the pit of trials and ultimately had to back out due to the recurring poison mushrooms as well. I might have been able to make it all the way down... but up until that point the furthest down I had made it was 50, so I decided to cut my losses. Anyways, great game. I especially love the Bowser levels from SuperMarioBros. |

I bought this for my wife and I became addicted to it. We sometimes have whole conversations about what is going on. I have always like mario games and this one is great.
