I was disappointed with it. The text/content ratio is horrible. I LOVE text heavy games, but there needs to be a point to that text. After a while just doesn't seem to be the case with PM2. The battle system was ok, with the exception of the slot machine, which contributed greatly to me not quite finishing the game (2nd time I made it to level 100 in the pit of trials and was looking like a win, I get hit with trip poison shrooms. great, just wasted three hours for nothing).
I was continualy frustrated with the games concept. They should of called it "When we want it to be paper, it's Paper Mario". The design seemed to lack a cohesive set of rules for how things are constructed in the world (are things 'painted' on a peice of paper, or are objects constructed in 3 deminsions out of paper? At the least, for each object/scene whatever, they should have picked one of those and stuck with it instead of switching to whatever they needed it to be). I was also highly disappointed by the complete lack of textures in the game.
Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy the game a great deal while I played it, I just wish they'd done it better. I think a lot of people can get enjoyment from it, but it can also be a big let down as you go through it. I'd recommend picking it up used for cheap if you needed a game to play, for sure.
