Join Redjake's World of Warcraft Guild!

Ok guys, here's the official details of my guild. Anyone who is interested, feel free to reply with questions or comments.

The guild's name: Heroes of the Universe

Name analysis: The name is supposed to be anti-serious. We're tired of all these "Knights of Honor" and "Divine Divinity" and "Brotherhood of Steel" shits. So we have two choices: Go completely non-serious or go ironically non-serious. We chose Heroes of the Universe because it is the most outrageous guild name you can have when it comes to this genre of games. We aren't only Heroes of the area. We aren't Heroes of only Azeroth and Kalimdor. We aren't even Heroes of the entire planet. We're Heroes of the entire fucking Universe!

Server status: East Coast PVP, Server name unknown until retail

The mission of the guild: To become one of the biggest (if not the biggest) guild on our server. To vanquish the opposing Horde faction(s) within reasonable limits (we're not going to newb-slaughter or anything, unless they attack first).

The reason of us starting a guild? Myself, along with Lasereth and BltzkriegMcCanon, have considerable experience with playing the game. We know how to level up incredibly fast (if you're into that sort of thing), make money really fast, and most of all, we can PvP (Lasereth anyway to a freakish extent). We want to spread the word of our ways, while maintaining a guild and letting it grow to epidemic....well not epidemic proportions, but definitely outrageous. We are, after all, the Heroes of the Universe. That's no easy task, therefore we'll need as many members as possible.

Guidelines:

1. No ignorance allowed.
2. No assholes allowed (you know who you are).
3. No dishonorable players (don't attack people who are more than 10 levels below you, unless they attack first).
4. You will pay a fee of 1 Gold per day to Me, Lasereth, or BltzkriegMcCanon. Just kidding.
5. Try to help out your fellow guildmates as much as possible. This isn't *required,* but recommended. Lasereth over there has 37 pieces of flair. Don't you want to express yourself? This doesn't mean Power Leveling or anything, just answering questions in the guild channel or helping a member being attacked by another guild. Stuff like that.
6. Superiority is NOT based on your level. It is based on maturity.
7. No trash-talking or name-calling or any of that crap. If you get in an argument, that's fine, but don't start insulting other people with personal attacks.
8. AOL chat is acceptable, but don't over-do it. Example: r u a newb? can i hav sum gold plz?kkkkkkkk? We want to minimize this. Sort of like at TFP. The standard chat protocols in our culture are acceptable such as LOL, ROFL, LMAO, etc., but try to use them correctly. Also try not to overuse them (i.e. saying LOL after every sentence).
9. We understand if you consider English a second language for you, but try to keep understandable sentences part of your repitoire.
10. There is no minimum level requirement or specific race or class. We are an Alliance guild, however, so Horde players can't join.
11. Try your best (at opportune times only) to recruit new members. If someone seems like a good player, ask them if they want to be in a guild (ours) devoted to being the Heroes of the entire Universe. Don't pester anyone though about it. DO NOT recruit people who violate these guidelines.

These guidelines will be updated at our website (which will be up shortly).

This thread will be updated with information on what server we'll be playing on once the game goes Retail.

If you're interested in our guild, reply. Try to get into the Open Beta which is coming up very soon to get a taste of the game and get some experience in.

Ask not what your guild can do for you, ask what you can do for your guild!

We won't make you call the "officers" by "sir" or anything like that. That's just stupid. The only "power" we have over you is whether or not you stay in the guild. As soon as the guild is strengthened, we *may* divide the guild into "companies" or "platoons" for PvP and Raid purposes. Nothing complicated.

If you are in a battle, try to do your part. Priests need to heal, warriors need to take all the hits as much as possible, mages need to bring the pain at a distance, etc. Don't venture into someone else's territory unless absolutely necessary. This is what makes parties work. Also, if we are in a PvP battle or Raid, attack one person at a time designated by the group leader. 10 people hitting one person kills them in about 5 seconds. 10 people hitting 10 people gets your group dead.

Our mission (along with what was mentioned before) is to have fun! Anyone caught violating this mission of having fun will be kicked out. Smiles on EVERYONE'S faces!

Crap, I can't join because I'm an asshole?

-Ever- 11-04-2004 02:24 PM

I was hoping to play with you guys but I don't really like the idea of huge clans. I played Quake with a really fun, serious clan for a while but I grew a little upset when I began seeing people I didn't know sporting our name (IE people invited people who invited people...).

That's just me though. I just like the personal feel of having fewer people. I'm jealous you guys have been playing for so long! My first taste isn't going to be until the OB!

you can be an asshole to everyone around you in the real world for all I care :)

Irishsean 11-04-2004 03:37 PM

Ok, any particular server for the OB that everyone will be on?

Rudel73 11-04-2004 03:53 PM

ok random question...which classes are considered the tanks for alliance and horde? paladin?? im so confused!

00111000 11-04-2004 03:58 PM

Warriors are the main tanks for both Horde/Alliance. Pallys can fill the role for the Alliance but will never be as good as a warrior. For the Horde the Shaman is supposed to be the secondary tank I believe.

What about a west coast guild? Anyone planning on starting one of them...PvP of course.

reiii 11-04-2004 03:58 PM

I'm on a test server that's not PVP. Could you explain what a pvp server entails? That would be my only reservation in joining the guild.

I'm also considering playing a shadow priest, which would mean my 'Job' would not be to heal...acceptable?

00111000 11-04-2004 04:02 PM

From the WoW site. Realm descriptions . That should sum it up for ya.

Irishsean 11-04-2004 04:07 PM

Priests job is to heal, even if your a Shadow spec in a group. If you tell a group you won't heal, bubye.

Even shadow spec priests can heal well, about on par or better than most other healing classes.

We're not gonna get so huge that we don't know our own members! Don't worry about one of those guilds. This isn't a "get as many members as possible the fastest" guilds, it's a "get as many respectable guild members as possible" guilds. If ya don't wanna join, it's all good, but we'd love to have ya!

For the alliance, Warriors are the main tanks with Paladins being the secondary and Rogues being third. The Horde has Warriors as the main and Shaman as the secondary.

Rudel73 11-04-2004 04:39 PM

ok good chance i'll join up with you then! i want to be a tank so warrior is the class what race???

Lasereth 11-04-2004 04:47 PM

You can choose Human, Night Elf, Dwarf, or Gnome for the Alliance!

Crack 11-04-2004 06:27 PM

I am so in on this. I was thinking of Ranger or Druid. Can either you redjake, or lasereth give me your points of view on either profession. Also, can you guys maybe explain the PVP aspect a little more, can anyone just go up to anyone else in the game and start whacking away, or is is only Alliance VS Horde combat?
This is so going to rock out with it's cock out when the Open Beta starts!

Lasereth 11-04-2004 06:33 PM

I've never played a Hunter or a Druid but I'll sum them up very quickly: a Hunter uses guns and a pet to do combat. The pet attacks the enemy and the Hunter shoots the enemy from afar with a rifle. Druids are basically a jack of all trades class. They're second rate healers, mages, and tanks. That bad part is that they're not REALLY good at any of those.

On the PVP server it's Alliance versus Horde. Any Alliance member can attack any Horde member whenever they want to anywhere in the entire world. Members of the same faction can duel each other but can't kill each other like A vs H.

-Lasereth

portwineboy 11-04-2004 07:05 PM

I'm up for joining with you guys, sounds like it could be fun.

I'm on Beta 4 pvp/east coast server (aka the "wait in line server") with a lvl 14 warlock (Maude). Not sure if I'll take the warlock retail but knowing the quests made leveling a lot easier this time around. I also have a Tauren hunter at level 10 on a carebear server just to mess around. Pets & guns are cool, I have to admit.

Crack 11-04-2004 07:06 PM

I think the Hunter is the direction I am heading then. Night Elf Hunter.

BTW, this Spirit Healer looks awesome!

Lasereth 11-04-2004 07:16 PM

There's currently a petition going around on the Priest forums for Blizzard to implement a Holy Form for Priests as a talent at level 60. The model would be the Spirit Healer of course. :) Movement would be reduced but healing would go up a bit. Shadow spells wouldn't be available in the Holy Form.

I think it's a hell of an idea. :)

I am reading the Hunter Forum's at Worldofwarcraft.com, and it seems that the hunter class get's no respect at all. There are a lot of people complaining about hunters being extremely underpowered in range, and the new skills that were just put out under the new stress test still do not make up for it.

I think I heard somewhere that Hunters are also not desired because they kill at range so it makes it hard for them to pick up items when others are around.

-Ever- 11-04-2004 08:16 PM

Well I'm mad excited. I'm not sure what I want to be though. Can I just treat it like Diablo 2 and just make one or two characters and go from there seeing which I like? Sorcs were definitely my favorite (Nova + Teleport rocked). I did rock a tanking barb for a while though...

One more question; what is this "Hero Class" I keep reading about, is this something like becoming a Jedi in SWG? Or is this this just another lvl after lvl 60?

argh that sucks! :| Most of the alliance character look ugly... Humans and Dwarfs are ugly(except female human...), Gnomes looks like 60 yr old midget. Night elf looks alright.

Well I had more fun being a horde character than alliance in the closed beta. so I'm going to be a Tauren Hunter and my mission is to hunt down the Heroes of the Universe. :p

Hunters suck in PVP right now. They're decent but only if you're a really good gamer. In other words, on average, they get slaughtered. They're not really desired in groups either. The one thing Hunters are very good at is soloing in PvE. Hunters don't have talents yet so many players are still complaining. Hunters WILL have talents in Open Beta so that should relieve some complaints!

That's bullcrap. Whoever you heard it from is inexperienced. WoW looting is very simple. Set the system to Round Robin and everyone in the group takes turns looting. There's no such thing as one person taking everything unless the entire group agrees on it for some extraneous reason.

It's not implemented yet and there's no official plans of it. Blizzard has stated that they're "looking into a Hero class." You're right, it would basically be a class after level 60 that made you seriously awesome if you fought enough or killed enough players in PVP.

Dwarves and gnomes look seriously stupid but I like the human and night elf models. I wouldn't mind having a guild full of Night Elves and Humans! :) Of course, Gnomes and Dwarves are welcomed in full force, I just don't like their models. Oh, and if you do go Horde, play on our server so we can come and waste ya!

Ey Lasereth, any way you can comment on my last post regarding the gameplay I'm used to in terms of helping me decide which character I should start with?

Thanks for helping everyone out so far
-T

Lasereth 11-05-2004 02:35 PM

Yeah man, just create however many you want! There's only one way to find out which character you'll like and that's by testing them. You can make 8 characters per server.

-Lasereth

bltzkriegmcanon 11-05-2004 02:37 PM

I think you should do what you've always done, try both. If you like meleeing, then go for a melee class like Paladin or Warrior. If you like casting, then go for Mages or Warlocks. Build your experience around what you want to do. You can develop this game to be whatever you want it to be.

BuddyHawks 11-05-2004 03:15 PM

I hope this dosnt end up being like diablo where certain character builds were the best and everyone made cookie cutter characters. I plan on being a NE druid with focus on healing spells and shapeshifting.

Redjake 11-05-2004 05:38 PM

ok guys, it's set in stone. I just pre-ordered the Special Edition or whatever it's called (80 bucks). Open Beta starts Monday! Gentlemen, start your engines!

Crack 11-06-2004 03:37 AM

How do you guys feel about the racial traits? http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...l-bonuses.html

Does this give any race an imbalance?

n0nsensical 11-06-2004 04:15 AM

I might take you up on this; it all depends whether I decide to play EQ2, WoW, or neither. I want to play whichever one is most like EQ1 in Kunark era (but it seems that they're both about equally UNlike it). Right now "neither" is winning. I don't really like the race/class selections of WoW. The only race I like is Night Elf, the only classes I like are Mage and Shaman, and I don't want to be on the same team as Gnomes and Dwarves, so you can see I have a major problem here since those don't go together. I'd try being a Cow Shaman but that would put me on the wrong team for your guild, and also make me an ugly cow, a definite disadvantage. Night Elf Warrior is also a possibility. So I'll screw around with some different combinations during open beta and see if I come up with something that I like better.

bltzkriegmcanon 11-06-2004 07:45 AM

That's really what it's all about, feeling your way through what you want to play as.

Well, I think the human traits are pretty bad. Swords? Gee, that helps a warlock a lot....but it could be a lack of experience as I thought Perception was pretty useless until a orc rogue magically appeared right in front of me last night and stunned/backstabbed me in about 2 seconds. :hmm:

The Undead are REALLY powerful now. Paladins used to have an advantage over them and now that advantage is negated. Undead aren't listed as Undead anymore...they're listed as humanoid. Paladins have a ton of anti-undead spells.

Most of the traits seem useless to me. The sword thing is actually pretty neat because rogues, warriors, mages, and maybe warlocks can all use swords as humans.

I'll have to test out these traits during Open Beta to have an accurate feel on it.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...ded-ogre.shtml

You have got to be kidding me!
Quote:

By selecting the Two-headed Ogre race, you are selflessly choosing to share your existence in World of Warcraft with another player. That is, you are staking claim to one half of the Ogre whole. As a Two-headed Ogre, you will have control of one head and one arm at all times. Your other half will be controlled by a second player automatically and permanently paired with you upon character creation. Each player residing in the Ogre body will be free to choose his or her own character class at creation, so for example, it is possible to have a Two-headed Ogre who is half Mage and half Warrior. It is also possible to have two halves of the same character class, depending on the random pairing. Two-headed Ogres serve the Horde, and in keeping with the theme of their inherent duality, their starting zone will be located near the Crossroads, which resides in the Barrens region of Kalimdor. The classes available to Two-headed Ogres are: Mage, Warrior, Priest, Druid, and Warlock. Sharing a single body with another player can produce an mutually enlightening, symbiotic relationship or a constricting, insanely frustrating experience depending on the player you are randomly matched with. Good luck to you!
This simply cannot be real.
