Halo. 'nuff said.
Doom. Holy shit. Wolfenstein 3d. Got it when I was six. Never brought a gun to school or killed anyone. MGS. I actually started crying during Naomi's big monologue. FFVII. Again, crying when Aeris died, being pissed off as Sepiroth, feeling a strange, warm feeling during the Materia poisoning. Playing Doom Legacy (a new Doom build after they made it open source). Revisiting an old friend in true 3D was fun. NFL Fever 2002 because it was the first Xbox game I ever played. Zelda: A Link to the Past. Grandia II. GTA 3. Morrowind. Splinter Cell. And the ultimate shocker: Goldeneye.

Resident Evil 4 - I was really suprised how much they improved the series with this game. It was really intense at some parts of the game, even during some of the cutscenes you had to be prepared for anything.. alot of Holy **** moments there.
Far Cry - When you first get out of the dark tunnel and you see how bright and beautiful everything is and you can see forever, it was jaw dropping. Same with Half Life 2. ICO was awesome, Nothing came close to that kind of gameplay until Prince of Persia came out. There wasnt alot of details but the size and atmosphere of ICO was breathtaking, considering that it came out over 3 years before Prince of Persia.

You know the PC version of Dance Dance Revolution? I get a little 'Holy shit!' moment whenever I look at one of the classical music levels.
And I get one at the end of those levels where I look at the maximum chain thing and I see I managed to hit FOUR IN A ROW. And then I self high-five. |

Recently, the only game that has made me really say "Holy shit this is sweet" was the first time I played Steel Batallion for the Xbox. Using the specialized controller and hearing the thud of the robot feet hitting the ground was nice.
FFT and Vagrant Story also made me happy. Then RE when I suckered my friends into playing it at night in a dark room. |

City of Heroes knocked my socks off the first time I saw it. I think What really got me was seeing people jump between buildings.
The first time I saw someone playing Action Quake 2 on teamjungle.bsp, I was totally blown away. After playing half-life for a year or two the speed and versatility of the maps just made me gasp. |

Probably while playing halo 2 on live. I go through a lot of " Holy shit!! where'd that guy come from." Seriously though, FF6 and its insane long ending made did it for me.

Resident Evil 4, the first time I got decapitated by the chainsaw guy. Zelda, the Wind Waker, numerous times. GTA: San Andreas, the first time I jumped out of a plane and threw out my parachute.

Some parts of Half Life 2 were pretty intense. I love the beginning of the game though, it really feels like you are being hunted down.
Edit: Oh yes, and the Striders. The FUCKING Striders. That was intense.

The Curse of Monkey Island. That opening cinematic was incredible. Probably my most favorite of all time. To me it was like playing a high quality (90's theatrical) animation movie. The voice acting was stellar. The jokes were laugh out loud funny. And, do I really have to talk about the music and sound design? AWESOME!

The Demo of Return To Castle Wolfenstein had me almost shatting my pants. Resident Evil games likewise. Fallout 1 and 2 were just beautiful and sometimes scary at the same time, just saying to yourself, "Holy shit I gotta save Arroyo!!11!1". And of course Half-Life 1 + 2.
