Deus Ex, Falout 1/2, Arcanum, Morrowind and Planescape: Torment are all really good games. I would also suggest that you get an emulator and play final fantasy 1-6, 3-6 are the games that define the series.

Gotta suggest Knights of the Old Republic as well. It's the best RPG I've played in a while...probably the best since FFX. One of the best games ever as well!

Neverwinter,KoTOR,and Morrowind are all fairly good to sink your time into.
Morrowind esp if you enjoy maxing a character out in every way possible. You can download extra plug-ins for NWN,player made etc..(and the two expansions) KoTOR was excellent. Also may want to go buy the Baldur's Gate II and Throne of Baal bundle pack.A friend and I spent a straight month playing BG II.(Good times) |

See this thread: http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread....threadid=49142 for more on Morrowind. 5 pages more, as a matter of fact.

As all the other meatbags said, KoTOR. It's simply awesome. NWN is great also, the original campaign is ok and the two expansions are pretty damn good. There are also tons of good player created modules out there.

Eh, more votes for Morrowind and KoToR. Both fantastic games in their own right. Morrowind is pretty huge, with lots of sidequests and pretty non-linear play. KoToR is just plain brilliant.
I liked NWN alright, but it never grabbed me as much as others. And like nanofever said, play all the FF games. They're all very good games (some better than others), and it's good to know your heritage. |

I found FF tatics new at Toys R Us one day. I was shopping for a birthday present and decided to go check out what games they had, and there I see it 3 copies of final fantasy tactics greatest hits versions. If you want it brand new don't try gamestop or eb games cause they probably aren't going to be there. If that doesn't work you can always try ebay.

Final Fantasy is a "love it or hate it" kind of deal. Some people have orgasms just thinking about them, but many people, myself included, are indifferent.
I prefer: Neverwinter Nights (as stated before, but preferably with the two expansions, and the Player Resource Consortium addon, which adds 40 more prestige classes) Morrowind (freedom!) Knights of the Old Republic (like everyone else) Deus Ex (1, and 2 if you have the comp for it) System Shock 2 (Deus Ex before Deus Ex, and scarier) Diablo 2 (if it's not an RPG, what is it? ) Fallout 1/2 (nearly perfect CRPGs; they're just great) So, that's my complete post.

you should try either
1.Xenogears (great game+story) 2.Disgaea: hour of darkness (more of an Srpg, but hey still pretty good) 3.Star Ocean 2 (since the third one is coming in august, why not revisit a classic)

Though it might be tricky to track down, and the graphics are a bit old school, I'd heartily recommend Wizardry 8. It was only ever retailed at Electronics Boutique.
It's really about the best RPG I've ever played, and my wife dug it so much we ended up getting a second copy so we could both play! I also played Morrowind for quite a while, but Morrowind got repetitive after a while, and I didn't have the stamina to finish it. Somehow Wizardry 8 didn't get old as fast. Also, for a bit of a stretch, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has limited role-playing elements wrapped in sugary FPS goodness. |
