Halo 2's the ONLY reason I'm considering buying an X-Box. I'm excited about it.

Xbox modding is the win. I can't imagine a day without xbox media center cranking out the tunes or streaming divx to my T.V. That, and the games. The xbox has a great line up off exclusive and non exclusive games wih some H U G E blockbosters on the horizon : B.C., Halo2, Fable and more.

NotMinus beat me to the punch here but I'll reiterate.
You will be very disappointed with your decision if you DO NOT buy an Xbox because of the exclusive games on the horizon. Halo 2, Doom 3, and Fable are three of the most anticipated games in Console history and they are ALL Xbox exclusives slated for the 3rd and 4th quarters of '04. I can't imagine needing any other reason (s) to invest in the box.

I picked up an XBox a few weeks ago, and am really enjoying it.
There are a lot of great (and pretty recent) games that are just $29.99 (Crimson Skies, Project Gotham Racing 2, etc.) and also XBox Live compatible. I always thought the XBox controller sucked, but I was just basing my view on assumptions and pictures. After I tried out an S-Controller, I find that I like it a lot, and that it isn't bad at all. Halo is a fun game, and I am on the last level. I also picked up Crimson Skies and Project Gotham Racing 2, which are very good games also. I played Crimson Skies the most after Halo, and haven't played too much of Project Gotham 2 yet, as I want to get through Halo and hopefully Crimson Skies first.. I'm looking forward to Halo 2, Full Spectrum Warrior, Madden 2005 (online also this year), Forza Motorsports, Doom 3, and Fable. It seems like a good system, and given the fact that it recently price dropped, it's a much easier decision to pick one up. Take care.

I've only played Halo, Crimson Skies, and Project Gotham Racing 2 so far. Halo and Crimson Skies are great single player games. Project Gotham Racing 2 is also a lot of fun, but it seems to shine online, as it has leaderboards, downloadable "ghosts," and more. I rented Splinter Cell 2 and Madden 2004 last week, returned them tonight, and didn't play them once. It's sad really, but I just had an "off" week for gaming, and didn't real play at all, except for some Halo. I've played Madden 2004 for PS2 and XBox (rented earlier also), and I enjoy it a lot. If you get sports games, I highly recommend buying an Action Replay so that you can download updated rosters that various users make online. Take care.

Thanks for the info, Grondar.
I'm on dialup, so if I get an Xbox I won't be able to play online. I liked the look of the commercial for Crimson Skies when it came out so I would definitely be interested in that. I'm not into too many sports games, though. I like racing, but I'd kinda like to get a title that has a free-roaming mode where you can go anywhere you want without the game stopping if you don't pass a checkpoint by a certain time.

For reviews and information about the game, I recommend checking out the MX Unleashed page at GameRankings. Take care.

IMO, it depends if your computer is good or not.
If you have a kick ass up-to-date system with an awesome graphics card, I'd say save your $$. Pretty much all of the good games for XBox are abailable on PC.

I'd highly recommend an XBox if you don't have a highend computer though. These games are not to be missed.

charlesesl, I don't know about that, but there is stuff like Xbox Connect that are ways to connect online with your xbox, without live.
You won't be playing on "Live" but like another set of servers online against other players who have Connect installed. I think GameSpy also makes an Xbox tunnel software. This is all from a few years ago, so I don't know if they're still around. Give them a google though. |
