EQ2 Classes
Quote:
The class structure consists of four key elements, Commoner, Archtype, Class, and Sub-Class.

At Level 1, you begin as a Commoner. Once you advance to level 3, you choose your archtype. When you get to level 10, you choose your class. And finally, when you reach level 20, you choose your sub-class.
I think the way they're handling the class system seems pretty neat because it seems more in tune with how one might actually develop into his/her niche. However, you don't actually become the class you want until later in the game.

What does everyone think? Do you like this new tree structure or the old linear progression better?

Something like that..

I think that this new class system will be alot more traditional to rpg's in general, but it is definetly a 180 from the class system in EQ. I really don't think that I'll be playing this shit, but I know alot of people that will be playing it, and they seem stoked on the idea of this 'tree structure' class system.

A sequel to EVERquest? Almost as bad as the sequel to the Never Ending Story.

Alright alright I'll bite. I'm sorry for being a jackass and pointing this out, but wouldn't sequels of these two HAVE to make sense? I mean, if you're questing forever and/or your story is never ending, wouldn't there have to be an infinate amount of sequels?

Now...I'll be somewhat constructive to the thread. Did you guys see the trailer that showed the NPC voices? Apparently every line spoken by an NPC in the game is going to feature actual voices. I'm still undecided if I think this is a great idea or a bad one.

Would be nice to get into the beta but I'm still playing EQ that I would need gallons of coffee to play both.

I can't seem to apply. It requires internet explorer, I can't trick it into using Firebird, and I can't log into the Station site with IE at all, so I can't use that either. Oh well, I don't have a DX9 video card anyway.
