I wanted to just freakin kick myself!

Have you ever accidently erased a game save file you've put a lot of work into?

Gosh, I've done that so many times... I don't even know how it happens.

I got really far on Banjo-Kazooie... but accidently pressed the wrong button combination and erased my whole freakin game save.

I forget how it happened exactly, but I once erased a Smash Bros. file w/all characters and stages.

Worst of all, I erased my Metroid Prime file at the final boss.

Please, tell me I'm not the only one who has done this serveral times through the years!

I haven't accidentally-on-purpose done that for a long time, not since Wario Land on the GB, but I did end up with a corrupt save file on FFV about a year or two ago. Used a cheap off-brand memory card, and that's what happens... I had another save file, but I didn't update it often, so I had to repeat about 16 hours. I got paranoid after that, and now after loading the game I have on my first card, I immediately save to the second- at least when it comes to time-intensive RPGs.

I also lent a copy of Harvest Moon 64 to a family member, with death threats should my save file be tampered with, and it ended up being copied over anyway. Not exactly the same situation, but I had the same regrets.

I've done it many times on Tecmo Super Bowl. Mostly because I knew all of the menu commands and where everything would be before it would come up.

If you go one too far on the schedule screen, whoops.

Wasn't a problem, because odds are I wanted to play as a different team anyway.

The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!"

yeah, i think this may often be my problem. i anticipate the next menu too often and although it works out alright 99% of the time... that one percent is what really gets me.

gotta s--l--o--w down...

Same thing happened to me at the ATM the other night. Apparently not all the ATMs for my bank have the same menu placement, and there is a big difference between wanting to transfer versus wanting to withdraw. Why would anyone need a 'Quick $100' option that didn't even ask for confirmation? Crack addicts, maybe.

I've never done it, but my sisters...argh. They pestered me forever to play my video games and I finally caved in. I came back to play Shenmue and my incredibly time consuming file...gone! My GTA file was also corrupted from their meddlings.

I've had that happen to me. I was playing RE 2, and for the 3rd time and I only saved it once way back in the beginning, was close to getting to the final boss, and I thought I saved it, instead I hadn't, well as you can guess my luck ran out, and I lost to the boss, didn't realize I messed up big time until I tried to reload the save and was near the beginning of the game.

I rarely erase saves, but I have lost innumerable saves to corrupted data on a memory card. That's why I love my xbox.

Not too long ago, was building a new computer so I had to burn a bunch of my saved games to a cd, to re-install on new computer. Not sure want exactly happened or where I screwed up but did not get all my saves. Lost all my Vice city and many other games. Happened to have a older saved burned on all my D2 characters. But losing Vice City about made me cry!!!

Why is it that those menus are always just too slow to wait for? i can't tell you how many seasons of Madden football i have lost between crappy memory cards and accidental deletes. it hurts just to think about it
