new game Painkiller
Anyone started playing this game yet?
I've played the demo and loved it, and have been reading good reviews about the release. Hoping to get it and start playing on the weekend. Just wondering if anyone can comment from personal experience. |

I also tried the demo out, and was impressed. It doesn't run that great on my system though, only having a radeon 7200 but well enough to enjoy it.
My only complaint is that there is no coop multiplayer. I loved coop in Serious Sam, and think it would be perfect in Painkiller. I don't even think I'll get the full version because of that, since I rarely play games like this (basically just a really fun slaughter fest) more then once through unless it does have coop letting me go through a few more times with friends. If I can get it used or something though, I'd probably pick it up.

The game looks beautiful but is incredibly boring, kill all the demons in this room, now the next room, now the next room... And the plot... hang on, plot? It's a neat game if you want to just let loose and kill muthafuckas but beyond that it won't leave any emotional impact upon ya.

Positives
------------------------------- - Great engine rendering speeds - Great physics - Great architecture and character design Negatives ------------------------------ - Very repetitive (but hey, whats to expect from this) - Weak AI (as seen from demo) - Lack of weapons (only 5, in this type of game there should be tons!) Anyone know if this game has co-op ala Serious Sam? I think I will definately get it if it supports co-op ![]() |

(i) each weapon has a VERY DISTINCTIVE secondary attack. i.e. (stake gun & grenade launcher), (shotgun / freeze gun), (rocket launcher / mini-gun). Unlike other games where the secondary attack is very much like the primary (i.e. single barrel & double barrel shotguns), this game effectively gives 10 guns. (ii) in games with many, many guns, the gamer will end up using only the "best" ones at the later stages. i.e. how many people use the shotgun in Max Payne 2 once they got the AK47 & MP5 etc? So rather than having many guns that won't be used, this game has fewer weapons but made each one different enough that people will use all of them. Not to say that it will be the best game ever, but since I quite like fast action FPS, I am quite looking forward to playing it. |

thats all you do in a lot of FPS. This game is reminiscent very much of Serious Sam and DOOM. Seems awesome from the demo.

Its an excellent game if you like old school FPS like doom. If you dont, its a bad game. Might be better off going for Far Cry if you prefer a storyline to back up the game

I just bought it today after playing the demo and I'm not dissapointed.
The game runs smoothly and the physics engine is fun to play with. I agree that it's repetitive but I didn't get it for killing really...I love the architecture, it's amazing in this game. |
