Metal Gear Solid:TS Review
GRAPHICS 8/10
The graphics are very good, looking very similar to MGS2. You can see all of these beautiful details up close in first person mode. The character models are stunning. I hate the Matrix style cutscenes. Many of the new cutscene looks very lame like when snake throws a grenade at the metal flying at him, then he jumps off that missle and fires a stinger back at liquid while still in the air.....Grey Fox backflip/kicking a huge chunk of rock at Snake..... Snake jumping 10 feet in the air.... Those scenes does not impress me but me think WTF?! SOUND 6/10 The biggest flaw in this game for me is the soundtrack...it just doesn't have the same feeling as the first one. I was very dissappointed that they changed the Boss Music. I loved the atmosphere in the original game's music, and the boss music was great. TS's music is too techno-ish and it doesn't really fit in this game IMO. The sound effects were improved like snake's footsteps, gunfires, ect. The new voiceovers is still amazing just like MGS. But some character's new voice I didn't like were Gray Fox and Naomi. Ninja just doesnt feel crazy anymore. I liked the old ninja's rougher voice. Naomi Hunter seemed very monotonous and emotionless. Also Mei Ling and Nastasha seems to have lost their accent in this game. GAMEPLAY 7/10 The gameplay is almost the same Metal Gear solid. Many new abilities include shooting in a first person mode, hanging from ledges, peaking around corners, and stunning enemies with a tranquilizer gun. The First Person Mode ruins the game for me. It make the game too easy, with boss like Ocelot are too easy with first person mode. The abilitie that were cool in MGS2, but have no use here. The Gamecube controller was kinda awkward at first but you'll get used to it in a few mins. STORYLINE 10/10 The story is the same as in MGS. OVERALL 8/10 Overall I enjoyed MGS:TW, but my enjoyment is ruined by a few things. Most of the action scenes are ridiculous and way too overdramatic. The music suck so much ass, most of the original themes are gone. The Twin Snakes is definately worth a rental just to see the new material. Buy it if you are a hardcore metal gear fan or you never play MGS before. It is an awesome game, but it doesn't live up to the originals. A simple port with updated graphics(think REmake) would've been so much better. Last edited by Infernal; 03-13-2004 at 02:15 PM.. |

I've played a good bit of it, and so far, I think it's an incredible game. I've loved every bit of it, but then, I'm a MGS freak.

Well, I just finished Eternal Darkness, and I'm itching for another SK game =) I've never played any MGS games, so it'll be new for me.

I think he only say Eternal Darkness, Zelda WW, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Smash Bros Melee.
He also says these too. so do you played super mario sunshine so do you like to play super smash brothers melee You're a very skillful warrior You have not saved often you're somewhat careless You're a very mythoical man the type to always kick his tires before he leaves You're very skilled with traps you're either very careful or you're a coward you like to play nintendo games do you like action games Last edited by Infernal; 03-17-2004 at 04:03 PM.. |

I'm guessing it does, because I just got done with it, and got the Meryl ending. It would make sense that if you pussy out on the Ocelot part, you'll get the Otacon ending.

MGS is more of a sci-fi approach to the genre, while Splinter Cell holds everything more realistic. It's hard for me to choose, but so far, I've liked the plots of the MGS series better so far. Splinter Cell's plot was a little muddy at times. MGS made you honestly care about what was happening at all times. kept you on your feet. in Splinter Cell you just wanted to be unseen
