I can't say favorite of all time, but in sheer hours played I would throw down Final Fantasy Tactics against any other across my last 15 years of gaming.

Quest for Glory Series, above all else... wow I played those for sooooo long when I was a kid! Going through with each class and maxing all skills! I'm pretty sure I could still do QFG1 original in my sleep!

Yeah. All the versions except the PS2 version weren't as good as they should have been. The PS2 version was just like the previous games....the controls were a combination of Simulation and Arcade mixed into one. It was great. I couldn't play it on Xbox or Gamecube, it didn't seem right.

Speaking of NFS on PC, I couldn't believe how much better the PC version of Underground looked than the console versions. Usually console games look as good as PC games and better in some cases, but the PC version just owned the console versions visually, and that was based on my PC which is nearing it's replacement in gaming.

My all time favorite is GTA Vice City. I played it almost every day for nearly a year without getting sick of it. The only reason I stopped is because I finally started getting some new games. I've been into PC and console games for over 15 years and have never found a game with as much replay value.

After that, I'd say Ultima VI.

There were many that came to mind, but for me, there is really only one:

Half Life.

It changed gaming forever, and its still playable 5 years later.

The only way I can really choose my favorite game of all time is by how many hours I've spent playing it. So by that reckoning, it would be the Romance of the 3 Kingdoms series. I have never played a bad version of that game yet, and I've wasted many a weekend stealing other Rulers generals, then beating them into submission with their own guys.

The only other series that could come close to competing with that would be NHL 94-96, which was the favorite around the dorm during my college days.

Me and my brother used to play this on our Amiga. Great game - although we did tend to hit each other to try and put the other person off. I love the words "Ice Cream, Ice Cream" whenever a player had to be taken off injured.

My small list of best games. for me, my personal opinion. Some based on quality of game, some based on being trendsetters.
FPS: Doom. the game that started the whole genre for everyone. I know castle wolfenstein came first, but doom wsa bigger, badder, and got everyone playing.
RTS: Dune. I once left a date with my girlfriend in college to play overnight. Went to bed at 8 in the morning.
XBOX: Halo. I know Ialready have an FPS, but to me Halo kicks so much ass. I like the story, the variety and intelligence of the enemy, the character of the npc soldiers, and the variety of gameplay.
RPG: Diablo 2: Great dungeon crawl, plus Blizzard's support and updates for the game has really expanded the playing of it.
Racing Sim: Gran Turismo. Goddamn that game sucked up a lot of time. That is the one reason I wish I had a playstation 2 instead of the XBOX. Sega GT 2002 is ok, but its no Gran Turismo.
Fighting game: Tekken 3. I loved Street Warrior 2, but it sucked up too many quarters in college. Tekken three I could play over and over until I unlocked all of the characters. Paul was the man.
Flying combat: Tie fighter. Good ships and good missions.
