Pong. All the other games stole everything from pong.
Graphics -> pong did it first. Controls -> pong did it first. Points -> pong did it first. Gameplay -> pong did it first. There is only one answer to this question, and that is pong. All of mankind must sing the psalm of atari's glory. (space invaders doesn't count. That was invented by someone who travelled back from the future, after having stole everything from pong) |

There's been like 900 threads on favorites games here, but people still make them because it's fun to rethink your opinion after playing newer games!
I don't have a favorite, but it's probably a tie between Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid, Knights of the Old Republic, Metroid Prime, Halo, Final Fantasy X, SSX series, and Battlefield 1942. -Lasereth

Dune. It's kind of funny but it's the first game I ever played on a game system (Sega Genesis), and the first game I bought for PC (Dune 2000).
I still rate everything on how it stacks up against Dune. Like my big beef with Rise of Nations, and their ilk, is the scale is all off. I'm building big fleets of aircraft carriers to sail on my lake. Gimme a break. Wouldn't happen in Dune!

Mine changes constantly too, but right now, I'd have to say that KOTOR is still climbing the rungs in my mind. Also Guantlet 2 and The Longest Journey. And QFG1 Remake. And...must...stop...listing...favorites.

Oh yeah, definitely. Chrono Trigger is one of the best games ever made. It's on up there on my list for favorite game, also. The soundtrack is only rivaled by Final Fantasy VII and Parasite Eve.

I've had several favorites over the years (been gaming since the days of PONG), it's hard to pick just one. I think my favorite by era would be...
late 70's - mid 80's: River Raid (Atari2600) late 80's - early 90's: Nobonaga's Ambition (NES) mid 90's - late 90's: Civilization II (PC) early 00's - present: World War II Online (PC) There have been games that I might have enjoyed more for a breif time but these are the ones that I never tire of. |

I mostly play PC games. So far, the best game is Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed. Had everything in it and the gameplay was just awesome. The sound was pretty authentic and the graphics were great.
I wished that Hot Pursuit 2 and Underground were an improvment from Porsche Unleashed, but they were no where close to it. They took out some features and changed some things that just made it boring to play. |

Wow!!! Many posts but none mentioned anything about Link! The original GOLD cartridge Zelda is one of my favorite games. River City Ransom was awesome. Almost any Maga-Man game; F-Zero; Super Mario Kart; MetalGearSolid; Gran Tourismo; FF 10; Halo and Max Payne 2. Damn, I would pick one game if I could but the games in this list I still find time to play on a regular basis.

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Marathon.
Marathon 2. Marathon Infinity. Love them all. Not too fond of Halo. Myth and Myth 2 are awesome.

I dunno, Hot Pursuit 2 on the 'Cube was just lame. Lamer than lame. They must have messed with the sensitivity or something, because the cars were uncontrollable.
