Problems with Planetside

I was curious if anyone did or still does have problems playing planetside with more than 512 megs of Ram . My specific problem= after loading the continent, the sound gets funky (static wackiness) and it crashes to desktop. I didn't buy a retail copy, I instead d/l'd the 30 day trial.

set-up=
amd 2700
nforce2
1 gig ram
geforce4 4600
sound blaster extigy

Any ideas/suggestion/haikus?

I bought Planetside almost a month ago. I love the whole concept of the game. Seeing 20-30 foot soldiers with dozens of tanks and gunships swooping out of the sky makes for unbelievable gaming!

I have the same problems as you do. I only have 256MB of RAM and I get such bad lag when I'm battling in a big base. Its so bad, that I don’t even bother to attack the inside of base if there's a huge amount of fighting already going on . I also have a lag problem when I'm flying a Reaver or Mosquito (awesome when theres no lag)
Outside in the open or around a tower, I don’t have a problem. I just bought more RAM to upgrade to 512, but Dell sent me the wrong kind, I need RDRAM. I sometimes get Low Virtual Memory warning when I play.

Make sure you tune everything down to LOW in your options – It’s a good guess that since it’s a Demo, its crap. I picked up my copy for $20 at EB, not a bad deal.

I don’t have my specs on me, sorry.
But try these sites for help:

PlanetSide Station Fourms - LINK
that’s also where you can get your stats and such. Maybe someone has the same question as you…

Planetside Universe Fourm - LINK

Make sure you do all the training at your Sanctuary – DO EVERYTHING – it’s a quick way to advance to level 3 even before you head into battle

ME:
Emerald: Kobe Tai – (TR) Level 9

Markov: Jill Kelly – (NC) Level 4

Werner: Tori Wells – (VS) Level 4

Set your sound to software, not hardware3D in settings,
I had some problem sound too in planetside before I did that.

The game loves memory, and it will stutter abit with anything below 1gig of ram. Turn texture quality down abit if it lags too much.

The 30 day trial is on the same servers with the same client as the normal game, it not a "demo".

I've been playing this game since the beta stages in april last year and I find it quite fun. It's a more slower paced shooter than quake/ut with few 1hit kill weapons(NC jackhammer in secondary mode and NC Vanguard's main gun vs infantry) with the addition of building your character to use more kinds of weapons/vehicles as you progress.

And offcourse the strong focus on teamplay and tactics.
The game gets really fun if you find some mature, playing for fun oriented outfit to join.

Problems with Planetside can be fixed by uninstalling.

Crazy

the only problem with that game is that not only do you have to buy the game for like $80 and then you have to pay to play for like $20 a month on top of what you pay for internet.

I bought it new for $20 at EB, and it costs $13 a month to play.

Thats less than 50 cents a day...
