well, the new expansion (Darksteel) card list was released today, and I am really excited about some of the stuff, so I thought I'd share here's my wishlist for fun and exciting cards... for some real BROKEN cards, check out Darksteel Colossus or Darksteel Forge. here's my wishlist for when it hits stores:

damn, wizards of the coast is still churnign out expansions? i ducked out before 4th edition came out, thought wizards of the coast was flooding the market and making the game unbalanced. was pretty frustrating to see my rare cards from ice ages turn up near-common in 4th edition! what the state of the game now?

things in this latest block (Mirrodin, Darksteel, and the still in development Fifth Dawn) seem extra powerful. it's an "artifact" expantion... over 1/2 the cards are artifact, and a lot of them are broken. isochron scepter, and it's darksteel counterpart Panoptic Mirror (seen here) are among the most broken ones I've seen so far, along w/ the 2 cards mentioned in my first post... the game's still fun, though!

The Darksteel Colossus, that's just sick. I've built Red/Green decks back in the day where getting 11 mana out by the third or fourth turn was pretty easy. If I could get an 11/11 trampler out by then that just wouldn't go away I'd be laughing.
And 'Savage Beating' gets my vote as best card name ever. |

Agreed, and Darksteel seems that it will make drafting much MUCH less boring and monotonous. "Oh you play a spike shot goblin with a bone splitter, guess I lose." Things to that effect will be said less with the additions from Darksteel.

Hi,
Did they change the card design? It looks...different, even though I haven't played frequently since Urzas Saga. I've gotten really far behind with these expansions but it seems to me that they've kind of lost their touch with the game. I thought they were crazy when they brought back Gold cards, but I guess they've gone even crazier now! "Indestructable" cards? OTT.. Thanks, Manga |

I liked the old card design better personally. I thought the change was going to be disastrous but it doesnt seem there has been much downfall. But the cards from 8th look pretty balls. Other than that it's okay.

Hi,
I agree that the previous card-face was better too, but that's probably just bias from playing the game with the previous incarnation for a good 7 years. I kind of miss CCG gaming, but then I don't. I'm glad I'm not shelling out $30 for a Parallax Wave any more to complete my Rebel deck. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but it's like crack, and I'd rather be off it then on it. Just makes me wonder what WoTC though was wrong with having brown artifacts, though...? Whenever I hear the word "artifact" I instantly think of the colour brown thanks to M:tG Thanks, Manga |
