Manhunt: has anyone played it yet?
I haven't been this excited about a game for a while, but considering that I've been let down before I wanted to get some people's opinions on it before shelling out the fifty bucks.
For those who don't know, Manhunt is the newest from Rockstar games and from what I've read it looks like they've done a 180 from the GTA formula (in a way) and gone for closed off claustrophobic environments instead of large open cities. I know Rockstar doesn't always get their games right (e.g. that one riot game whatever it was called) but I have high hopes for this one. Anyone played it yet? Is it any good? |

I have it and it is really fun to play, although it is a little slow since you have to kill everything stealthily. It is fairly intense game and will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is a massive amount of gore and a lot of people probably won't like watching you play it cause it is kinda slow.
However, Final Fantasy X-2 has been taking all of my time up right now. |

I'm in the middle of manhunt right now.
one of the better games i've played lately. (also tried THUG and HCTP) why i love manhunt. there is no cheating...you have to be smart...the game thinks better than you do sometimes. you have to be on your feet. aware of whats going on in your surroundings. the concept, and design are almost flawless, the controlls are superb as well. this is a more goal oriented, less confusing version of TENCHU almost. the fact that you can use the USB headset, to bring out the bad guys, buy making comments at them, in my eyes is a first. I'm very pleased with rockstar, and can not wait to see what they come up with next. 4*'s def.

Manhunt for PS2.. Has anyone played it?
I just got done reading reviews for this game, and it seems unique to say the least.
It's rated Mature and supposedly shows very graphic death scenes.. To the point where it will likely cause an outcry from mother's everywhere. Thrill Kill was banned in the USA, and I am thinking this may be too eventually.. Just because it appears to be shockingly graphic and apalling in presentation. Basically, you are put in a town owned by some evil man who has cameras all over. You then basically "act out" a snuff film for him in which you sneak around and kill enemy gang members. The game is supposedly very hard, but it's also supposedly very good. The focus is on stealth and silent kills, and I read that the player doesn't get a gun until about halfway through the game. Has anyone played or otherwise experienced this game yet? It seems to have shock value, and that is honestly what intrigued me.. If anyone has played it or has comments about it, I'd love to hear them.. If you want to read up on the game, you can find a few sites with reviews HERE. Thanks.

I don't think Manhunt will be banned, simply because it's already out. Thrill Kill was cancelled before it was released, so they had the pre-emptive strike. Either way, it's getting above average reviews, but not "great" as we all expect from Rockstar. After Vice City, Rockstar had a lot to live up to. I'll play it if it goes down in price. -Lasereth

Meh, the game sucks major ass. It is like State of Emergency + A Crappy Splinter Cell Clone.

I have, and it is so so. You ahve to sneak around and hide, and then kill people...but the plot never really got me. It wass fun for a little while.
I prefer Splinter Cell by far over this game. The one advantage this game has is the gruesome way you kill people, but it is pretty basic. |

I love the premise and I think I'm gonna love the game if I get a chance to play it but it looks like the graphics and plot are nothing to incredible. Still without playing it it's hard to tell.

As an FYI, Rockstar announced this week that the game would be ported over to Xbox and PC early next year.
So far, it has been a pretty poor seller, only moving 75,000 copies in November.

Definately a rental. Its pretty much the same thing over and over. Theres only 3 kill levels per weapon, meaning only 3 different ways to kill your victim with the weapon equiped. Once you've seen them a few times, they get boring.
I would imagine if I beat the game I would never play again.

Maybe I'm the only one, don't wanna sound like a game nazi here, but I think this looks like it WAY crosses the line of violence. I have no problem with Medal of Honor or Counter Strike, but this game seemingly has no point but to kill you enemies in the most brutal way possible. Frankly I think it's disgusting that games have started to degrade to this.
Okay there's my 'Sound like a mother' rant.

Not funny...I seriously love games with violence, I'm a big fan of Medal of Honor, GTA, Mortal Kombat, and all that good stuff. But this game just disgusts me.

I've rented it, but it didn't really capture me. I played for a solid hour then just lost interest. Gameplay was too repetitive for my tastes, although the premise for the game is extremely cool.
If the gameplay had been better, the game would be worth a mention. The kill scenes are cool... the first few times you watch them. I dunno, the game just seemed to lack something. Got very boring after awhile. |

Lots of publications, including PlayStation Magazine and CNN, have wondered very publicly why this game didn't get an AO rating for the violence. For the most part, the people I've seen raving about it are people who, going by the rating at least, shouldn't be playing it. Most adults find it either offensive or repetitive/boring.

I finally picked this game up and have been playing it. And I can see how it could offend people.

Well, I am an adult and I still think it's a well-crafted game. Yes it can become repetitive, but so far, for me, it has managed to avoid that problem for the most part. I measure the success of a game with how well it puts you in a certain world and keeps you there. A game like "The Getaway" was great at putting you in the Lodon crime world, but it deffinitely became repetitive and boring during those long drives around the meticulously created London streets (whereas, the GTA series keeps you insterested despite the sometimes long drives it takes you to get to your next mission). For me, Manhunt really puts you in this game as this psycho and keeps you there (keep in mind I haven't finished it). There are times when I'm playing and a guy I've been following discovers me and starts attacking me setting off a fight where I finally knock him to the ground and get much satisfaction from beating him until his head explodes. Now is this the first time I've gotten pissed off playing a game? No. But with this game it's different. It's disturbing to me when that happens. The game has successfully put me in this world as this psycho (no, not really, just as much as a video game can). And that is, in some twisted way the sick genius of Manhunt. |

The one key thing I love about this game is the fact it is actually hard. Going toe-to-toe with one guy will be difficult, with two is almost guarenteed death.
Granted, it does get fairly boring if you were to play it for say 6 hours straight, but bursts every now and again is a great break for me from my current string of insanely easy games. (SOCOM 2 online, Madden, NBA Live, etc.) Oh, and mciprepaid: Thanks, I needed a good laugh

The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

I'm playing it right now and it's alright for the most part. I like how sight and sound really play a role in stealth, like enemies not showing up on your radar until you see or hear them. BTW, Starkweather (the guy over the earpiece) is played by Brian Cox of X2.

For a game about killing people and nonstop action,it lost my interest pretty quickly.
The sneaking around for 99% of the game didnt appeal to me..some of the things the NPC's said was funny..because it was so outrageously offensive... The highlight of the game.. I had to kill a guy, sitting on a toilet..so I could take his nailgun. My tactic was to kill his friend, take the head and chuck it through the window, hitting the guy on the toilet. Friend and I laughed pretty hard about that...but the game didnt go beyond that really. |

This is game great especially considering what it brings to the table. Of course its offensive...duh, its a Rockstar title. I messed up and picked the hard level but it was extremely entertaining. I thought of it as an urban style ninja game because of its stealth quality. Yeah, i too enjoyed Splinter Cell more but they are totally different games. Manhunt is more nerve wrecking with an unbeatable gore factor.
