honestly, I was working a lot so I haven't played in about a month and a half, and I also left it on overnight a couple times, so my hour count is really off. Sorry.

OMG it SUCKS to live in Europe where I have to wait 12 more days to get my hands on FFX-2, NOT FAIR!

LOL if you're playing an FF game for a spa scene you're REALLY not playing it for the right reasons AT ALL

But, yes, it wasn't as good as it sounded. However, you should know there are 2 possible spa scenes depending on how you approach the place.

Has anyone finished it yet? How long did it take? I just bought FFX and absolutely love it, wanna get FFx-2 now but I'm worried, cos frankly, it sounds terrible (I'm sure it's not, but some of the changes really sound bad) is it still a long, involving rpg like its precursors? Like, with at least 50 hours of play?

I personally only played until the beginning of chapter three,I thought the game was really slow and boring..and havent played it since.

/shrug..the CGI was amazing though.

Haven't finished yet as life got in the way, but I definitely didn't think the game was slow and boring. If you're set in your ways as far as how Final Fantasy should be though you may not like it - it's far less serious and very different as far as playing style than other FF's. From what I've played it does seem to be of a normal length for FF games, and even if it's not, once you beat the game there is a "new game+" option to go through the game again with all the items, etc that you've already gathered. There are three different possible endings too, so chances are you'll want to do that unless you maybe somehow get the "perfect ending" the first time.

Cool. I do quite like my FF games serious, but a bit of humour won't hurt, call me boring but I also like them pretty linear because a really strong story can be crafted then. Thanks for the replies anyway, it sounds much better now, I read somewhere that it was like Tombraider so I was panicking big time!

Well, it's pretty much not serious at all in many aspects. It has a serious issue underlying it, but the approach is about as not serious as you can get (at least, as far as I've played which is about 50% through).

As for being linear, it is and it isn't. It is linear in the sense that you only have a certain number of possible choices at any given time, but you can choose to do those possible things in almost whatever order you want.

I'd recommend just renting it, playing it as much as you can while you rent it to get a feel for it (DO NOT rely on your first impression - take time to get used to it and get more "into" the story). If you like it after renting it, then buy it and you can still use your saved games.

I'm one the verge of entering chapter 5, and I'm enjoying the toungue in cheek approach in this game. Although there are a few parts that could be better (sphere break); I still like the general plot. I'm definitely very satisfied with my fifty dollar investment.
