I'd just like to say that really sucks. A lot. I want ffx-2. Now. And what's wrong with spending 100 hours on a an excellent game. At least you are getting your 50 bucks worth. (as opposed to a 12 hour game.)

Nah I wouldn't want the data to xfer over... most of the game is brand spankin new anyways.

In time I'll rank up another 300 hrs on ffx2 anyways.

So I just read the first two pages of the review and wow I can't wait. I wish I had more expendable income.... I'm refusing to read more about the game until I have it.

To anyone who got it allready.
Is the fighting like in FFX where turns are taken for hits, or is it more real time, where you don't have forever to make your move?

The old ATB system is back from the earlier games. The battle system from FFX is gone...

It was almost to fast for me when I first started playing. I figure I'm still going to have to switch the game to wait mode instead of active in the later parts of the game.

Now that I've played a bit of FFX-2 I think it's fair for me to say that it really is a very fun game - but VERY different.

I know that it does get more serious further down the road, but so far this game has mainly been fun and funny. Just a bunch of light-hearted silliness - and there's nothing wrong with that

I, too, found the battle system to be a little fast at first. I'm playing on wait mode right now and maybe I'll eventually try to do it in active mode again.

I was just reminded today that there is more than one ending to the game - when I was given an obviously critical choice to make. So, be warned and be prepared, there will come times when your choices DO directly effect the end of the game - how much, I don't know because I don't want to spoil anything, but there is an effect nonetheless.

Overall, from all I can tell so far, if you liked FFX *AND* have an open mind and don't require your RPG experience to be a wholly serious one, then definitely get FFX-2. It's a really fun game so far and actually - dare I say it - pretty cute

FF X-2 is simply fucking awesome. my stomach did almost commit suicide with 'yuna's opening, though

i fuckin love this game cuz it is both vastly different enough to enjoy while not being redundant and not being so new that you feel new to it.

the job system is very, very fun too. and, despite the pink everywhere, i find it refreshing to be rid of bad attitude pscho hero-wannabes for at least one FF.

i heard there is a new game plus option once you beat the game once, where you get to keep all your items and what not but start a new game. this will make it much easier to get the alternate endings. as far as i understand there are two endings, the 100% complete ending and the otherwise ending.

Actually there are 3 endings. A Common ending, a Good ending and a Perfect ending. And once you beat the game once you get the option to save the game as a plus file.

The plus file lets you begin a new game with all the dresspheres, garment grids, accessories, items, Al Bhed primers, special dresspheres upgrades, 1 key item I'm not going to name, and ablities that you gained in the previous game. All your character's levels are reset to level 1 though.

The only bundle I could think of might be a game store selling the game+guide for the price of the game. (Friend of mine usually buys alot of his games this way).

The store is either Babbages or something like that...

In any case, I dont think they have ever sold a FF with a Playstation/PS2

I was enjoying the game except for all the random encounters. It is insane I can't go 2 steps anymore without getting attacked. It wasn't bad at first. Ever since I had went looking for the 3rd leblanc uniform on the mountain place the random encounters have been insane. I stopped playing for a while. The only thing I can figure is that I'm at to high a level. I got lost and started just wandering around and got pretty high and end any battle in 1 and a half turns easy.

Aren't they supposed to me making a FFVII CG movie? I've seen some screenshots of it, and it looks like it is going to be sweet.

The movie is known as Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children. It's being released directly to DVD. You can find out all about the movie and see some media for it here.

All the media is looking great. So far so good, so hopefully it'll be better than the first Final Fantasy movie.

Same here.

As for random encounters, make sure you don't have anything on that makes them more likely. It sounds to me like you're getting far more than is normal. I'm at level 60 at the beginning of chapter 3 and my encounters aren't bad at all unless I have the lure accessory on.

So what do people think of the battle system? I'm tossing around getting this as I really liked FFX, but I liked being able to stop and think in a fight about who's going to do what. If i turn off this active mode, and put on this wait mode will the battle system be similar? Just curious...

wait mode is still fast - it just means time doesn't progress once you pass up the first level of menu.

I really like the battle system actually. It's very different from FFX and very fast paced but it's a lot of fun and I like the job system
