SP is good, having issues with my Radeon 9700 AIW with it, but still enjoying it much more than i ever did with MOH. MP looks to be good, Good ping on the dedicated servers so far, will take some getting used to as the weapon damage is diffrent than MOH, Also the kill cam is a nice help to anti-cheat problems, will suck for snipers though. Hopefully they will be adding punkbuster.
Hopefully ASE will be adding COD to thier server list. |

I'm currntly in some POW camp rescue mission and so far I'm lovin every part of this game. The car escape was great and the battles do portray a sense of chaos. I was hoping that this game would have a shitload of more weapons like the greasegun, 30. cal, and 50 cal. I think the 2 weapon at a time system is great. Not being abel to drop one weapon for another is what got on my nerves constantly during MOH.

I've only played a little bit of it, first few missions or so. Really fun, but I'm also having some problems with my Radeon.

One of my room mates is ecstatic about this game. Too bad he hasn't bothered to buy it yet.
It sounds pretty awesome from a single player perspective, but I gotta go with DOD for WWII multiplayer. Veritas en Lux! Jimmy The Hutt

This game is tight!
So I just get off the boat at Stalingrad, and they are forcing us through the line to pick up our weapon and ammunition. Next thing I know, I miss the weapon pickup so I'm forced up onto the beach without a gun! I'm running around looking for dead bodies to loot, when I get stunned by a couple of massive explosions. Then I get shot up by a German fighter. Awesome shit. My favorite war game without a doubt. It really gets your heart pounding.

best WWII game ever. I love it. I personally didnt like battlefield 1942 much because all it is is vehicle combat for the most part and i dont like it, they also force you to use the vehicles in most of the large maps cuz it takes so long to get anywhere. MOH was my fave before, but this blows away MOH.

Great SP game but MP is lacking IMHO. Best missions by far are Pavlov's House followed by Pegasus Bridge. I love the way they were able to capture the almost absolute feeling of helplessness while trying to hold out against swarms of enemy and then just when you think you can't handle anymore, reinforcement arrive to save the day. Perfect.

After being done with Max Payne 2 tonight, I need another game. I played the demo for Call of Duty and really enjoyed it, but I've always been leery of squad based games because of poor AI. How is the AI in this one? Do your squad consistently go out and get themselves killed? Do you even need your squad?

Ditto, the AI in this game is near scary. As is the enemy AI. If you try to Rambo the tours, they'll hunt you down. Man Pegusus Bridge was heart stopping!!!!! I had several moments where "oh SHIT" exited my lips in several scenerios. Not bad at all for their first game. Can't wait for the mods to come out.

I played it on the difficulty below veteran (3/4 difficulty) and I just laughed. Yes, the allies cover you, they lay supressing fire, they hide behind walls, and they pop out to shoot the enemy. However, they cant hit shit, and they hardly EVER kill the enemy. On one map I had a team of about 10 guys and we were inside a building. I peeked outside and saw a german about 100 yards away in plain sight, with no cover around him. One of my allies took the lead, went out and took pop shots, and got killed. Another ally went out, did the same, got killed. 4 more allies went out, did the same, and all got killed. Finally I said, what a joke this AI is, went out, and shot that german in one second. Now for the enemy AI. I see absolutely nothing special about it. HUNDREDS of times, I have seen the enemy throw a grenade, run to take cover, but amazingly they run on top of their own grenade, and then crouch down for cover, only to be blown sky high. Brilliant AI. As for pathfinding and usage of actually 'searching for you' is non-existant. I found the AI uses the same technique as 99% of the other games on the market. What they do, is go from their current position, to your current position, and no where else in between. Sure if you are shooting them in between they may take cover and use an alternate entrance if around. Alternatively, if you sit and hide in a room, and no one even knows you are there, the AI 'MAGICALLY' knows where you are, and they all run inside the room, and IMMEDIATELY turn towards you and start shooting you. Once again, absolutely nothing special about that AI. Also if you have a group of teammates out in the open with you, and an enemy spots you, its like the enemy as a HUGE priority to shoot you first, and they dont care if you have an army of a million soldiers with you. Suddenly all of the enemy soldiers turn and shoot you, while your teammates sit on their arses and 'pretend' to shoot the enemy, with maybe 1/50 of their bullets actually hitting something worth while. Im still waiting for that glorious game of where the AI will search room for room, and not know where you are until they actually see you. Last edited by Hercules; 11-09-2003 at 11:23 PM.. |

Nothing you mentioned Hercules happened during the times I've played CoD, the enemy AI isn't the greatest but there has never been a moment where they blew themselves up with their own grenades. As for your team not killing the enemy, no way, on Pegasus Bridge I was getting the fuck shot out of me, so near the end of the level, like a bitch, I ran off under the bridge and my team finished my objectives for me.
Someone else agrees with me here too: Quote:

Ya the AI is great i have been playing it on the hardest difficulty and the AI is amazing. You allies help so much and the enemy is just damn good.
And about the part with the enemy taking priority on you, thats so not true. I have lived countless times at the expense of my allies because they got shot at instead of me.
