The game play is kinda fun in an non-stop-brain-dead-monster-hunting sort of way. Much like Diablo. The graphics remind me of Final Fantasy Tactics which is probably my favorite console game of all time. The lack of quests doesn’t really bother me cuz…frankly I don’t care about that stuff.
What does bother me is that 90% of the server population are under the age of 10…or at least it seems that way. What’s worse is that there is NO ways to compete with other players accept maybe though hoarding loot. So if some one pissess you off you cant just whack them. Now this isn’t all that bad in itself but the loot in this game kinda sux. Its nowhere near as intricate as in Diablo for example. So I duno, there is a 3 day free trial and $12 a month is not that much. Its kinda fun, cuz its so laid back. One just cant take this game seriously, which is perhaps an advantage. But i really dont think that anyone can stay intrestend in a game like this for a long time. Once you get to max level there will be nothing to do. Thats why i quit after the 3 day trial. |

Cool game at first a nice escape from all the other games that seemed too stuck on their texture mapping skills. Although it did get boring rather quickly it was fun for about 2 months

yesh i played in beta and the first beta.. so for about 4 months alltogether.. I would never pay to play a game online.. but it was fun and the closest i got to a MMORPG.. because it wasnt complicated or had stupid side quests. I can see why some would want those things though, because hackand slash gets old after a while.

yeah i originally started playing during the alpha phase of the game. that was about 2-3 years ago LOL. so i've been at it for awhile. the most frustraiting part was the rollbacks AFTER i paid for 3 months. but yes the hardest part about the game is getting the rare loot which the drop rates for are so rare you'd have to play for years. aside from that i love the feel it looks very much like final fantasy tactics which is my favorite game of all time as well. (i usually waste months replaying that damn game over and over again) but the gameplay reminds me of secret of mana (also one of the best games ever) i miss the fact that there really hasn't been a game of that calibure in a long time. so i guess this is as good a replacement as any.

Well I'm not in the US, but I'm going to have my say anyway. :P
I played for a while when it was free, and found the game incredibly boring. What made Diablo 2 fun for me was finding new items and getting new skills. RO is basically Diablo 2 where it takes forever and a day for either of the above to happen, and even then most of the skills and items aren't very interesting. Still it has one thing going for it: it's not quite as bad as Dungeon Siege.

I started it about a month before they started charging people.
I played it for about two weeks and it was fun. I enjoyed just doing whatever, if I die no big loss. Like Mantus said, it's a nice game to just sit back and have fun. Anyway as soon as I heard they were going to start charging for the game I dropped all my stuff and left. It was fun while it lasted but once I finnally quit Ultima Online I don't think I will ever pay to play online.

I sold my beta accounts (3 level 70ish guys) before they started to charge for beta. Good money, hehehe.

I played it for a little bit before they start charging. It's ok, I just got bored with it and didn't feel any need to pay for it so I stopped. *shrugs*

I played it about 2 years ago. I quit after that period of time where they kept restarting the servers deleting your save game. The final draw for me was that guy with a bot who would disconnect everyone in a certain map. Pissed me off.
