Phantasy Star Online : Dcast/Xbox/GCube Who plays?
I used to play it for Dcast quite avidly, but I got to this one mission where you have to guard this little weakling dumbass who is barely useless and seems to be half retarded the way he doesn't want to use potions!!! I busted out my Dcast yesterday evenin' and played the mission, I got farther than I ever did only to get a really sour surprise, to complete the mission you have to beat the boss from the Caves...AGAIN!!!!
I have considered just pounding on the dragon from the forsest 7000 times to level up enough and find a good enough weapon to just off the freakin wurm in a few shots before the guy I'm guardin' goes stupid...but god knows how long that would take! And just yesterday I was playing on Gcube with 3 other friends and it wasn't too bad. We beat up the dragon once, but in the process two people died, so me and my friend made a cool 500 exp a piece. Not too bad.

I have all three versions, DC, GC, and XBOX.
My wife and I used to play co-op on the GC, but now we do it on the XBox, so we can play it online as well. We never got a Broadband adapter for the Cube, seeing as there were no other online games.

PSO, the Original on Dcast
Yeah, I own this game, not like pwn this game but I have a copy. I play it like once and while, I've owned it for more than 2 years and I haven't completed it. I have a level 16 Hunter and a 23 Ranger, they both are kinda sub-par. THe ranger is in the Mines (I'm stuck on that stupid mission where you fight De Rol Le, the big worm, again) and the Hunter is in the caves and I'm leveling her up for her fight with the big worm. She has Gizonde making the fight slightly easier but still a fair challenge.
So, I feel pathetic, this game is alot of fun but...It was constructed to be like really tough on the Dreamcast, then I played it on Gamecube at my bud's place and it's like total pussified version and it was sadly easy. There were like tons of awesome rare items just kinda lying around and Digrinders and Trigrings (Monogrinders x2 and x3) and I kinda thought, this is stupid, it's so easy. Don't get me wrong, but I like my games to have a good challenge to them, not to be blatantly easy. There was a quest in the GCube version to get a really obscene weapon. It was stupid. Those are just my thoughts. Discuss any aspect of this game, and your characters. I think I should scurry off and finish of the 3-day weekend with a marathon of PSO followed up by 16 hours of sleep. What do you all think?

I remember the very begining of this game being absurdly hard. Enemies would pwn you left and right.
Doesn't the GC version have more content though? Maybe the begining is made easier and the ending is harder? Plus you can't go online with the DC version any longer, sadly, as far as I know. |

Well, the GC version has more content on one disc, but you can get episode two for the DC and it's much easier to find good weapons get Materials and such things in the Cube version.

On the dreamcast version I had a lv 75 hunter. I think hackers kind of ruined the dreamcast version for me. I bought the gamecube version and I have a lv 38, I think that was his lv, hunter. It's pretty fun, but gets kind of repetitive after a while. It was especially fun on DC because back then that was the only online game I had.

I found the gamecube verison to be easier than the DC version as well, but perhaps your buddy was playing it on "easy" setting. I cant remember my character level on the DC, but my newer character on the GCN is a level 48 and is fairly powerful. I just beat PSO and im now on Episode 2, but im waiting for my girlfriend's character to level up and beat episode one before i go on.
Is there a big hacking problem with the new gamecube servers like there was on the DC ones? I remember the BSOD, and a bunch of newbs running around with waaay too powerful weapons when i played a few years ago. Last edited by Ganguro; 10-06-2003 at 10:27 AM.. |

Oh, PSO is one of the best games ever. I bought the keyboard just for it. I played in a role playing guild online and put in soooo many hours... I'm glad I quit but it was the most fun I've ever had online. I was a lv 88 android hunter when I decided to quit. I'd love to play again, but since it's not online anymore it's just not as much fun...

Hee hee hee. I finally got alot of work done on my lame hunter. She's now level 26, the ranger is the same, and in the Ruins. I failed the mission to find 'Big Sword Zoke' at what I assume is the final part when you fight a bunch of Demienians and a Chaos Bringer. I lost because stupid Shino had the urge to run out in front and get stomped utterly. Fah....

This game got Gamesarked all to hell, thus making online play a waste of time. What funis playing online when you ask for someone to cast Resta on you, only to have it kill you and they steal your shit? After the gamesharkers came out, it lost all its fun factor.

Or having a guy run through the walls and steal all the items.
One of my friends hacked PSO... I would always explain to him that it was unfair and lame, he would say "You cheat in (insert one player game) all the time!" Yea dude, I cheat in ONE PLAYER mode, where I don't effect the gaming experience of anyone else. Online cheating is the largest bane of the gaming society. |

I own it for Xbox. It's only fun when I have people over to play it, and even then we have to be high as hell for it to be the least bit entertaining.

Btw, I've made yet more progress by completeing all the quests, I'm now leveling up in preperation for Dark Falz (Force when properly translated) And I was bored so I aquired the Frying Pan of Akkiko. It's rather disapointing, but c'mon its a fucking pan!

Does it have co-op again? Me and my brother liked the DC version together.
Also can you play it online - co-oping. Like 2 people playing online together on one box.

yes it has co op play
i dont play online yet because i need a router, but it is fun putting around offline with my girlfriend riding shotgun Unless you are really into PSO though, or can get it for a discount.. I'd wait for the new C.A.R.D. game to come out soon.. it looks like a lot of fun.. turn based, card playing.. like Yugioh, but online..It got good reviews in japan, and i have a buddy from highschool in Tokyo that got into the trial version and he liked it.. |

That would be true Eldaire except for the fact that there were about a million hacks and cheats on the net for it.

Sega turned the servers off this year I think. However, if you had a connection to the internet yes you could play PSO online.

No you can't. The dreamcast Vmus can't hold multiple characters and the game for Cast just wasn't designed to anyways. It would be cool if you could.
I play really heavily randomly. My character hangs around 50 in hard...
